Agreed and understand, but Petrino could and would pull talent at UT he did not not have access to in his previous trip to the SEC. I'd throw all the consenting adult former volleyball girls at him money could buy to get him on The Hill. UF & UGA would be fighting for 2nd place in the East as long as he was at UT is my opinion.
This blows my mind. I respect your point of view, don't agree with it, but never thought I would see this sentiment from ANY Vol fan in my lifetime. I may get over it ten years after my being cremating and dumped at my favorite surfing spot at Venice Beach, just may.
I don't think he is leaving Louisville on his own accord, I think the AD just pulled the ejection seat lever.
What about that Aub assistant, does it rise up to Bruce Pearl?
Les Miles and Gus Malzahn did. Why not a "better" coach like Petrino? Why did he get blown out against basically every good team at Arkansas?
This is ridiculous. His last two years at Arkansas he lost to a number one ranked Alabama, a number 7 ranked Arkansas, a number 6 ranked Ohio State (all in 2010), a number one ranked Alabama and a number three ranked LSU in 2011 who went on to play each other for the national title.
Over those same two years he beat an 18th ranked South Carolina, a 22 ranked Miss St., a 6th ranked LSU, a 14th ranked A&M, a 15th ranked Auburn, a 10th ranked South Carolina and an eleventh ranked K State.
He turned ARKANSAS into a winner. People may not like the guy because he had an affair and lied about it, that is fine but to argue that he wouldn't make Tennessee a pretty instant front runner in the East (if not the SEC outside of bama) is nuts.
If UT Football stoops so low that they hire Bobby Petrino, then I will tap out as a fan until he is gone. Gosh, we have to have some sort of sense of pride in the team that we root for. That guy is everything that I work to make sure that my children never become in life. Winning aint that important IMO.

I live in Central Arkansas and my husband is a Hog fan. Petrino is a terrible recruiter. He never sticks around a program more than 4-5 years because that is when things start to catch up with him. This whole thing with Pitino and the AD is the perfect opportunity for him to skip town. He is a scumbag and would be a terrible hire here.
This is also bogus. The man stayed at Louisville for four years before accepting a better job at Arkansas. He stayed at Arkansas for four years before he was fired. Western for a year and then back to Louisville for the last four (which by the way probably says a little something about the guy that Louisville took him back after he left and after the scandal). Petrinos recruiting classes were also consistently better than Nutts or Bielemas. You are not going to have a top 5 recruiting class at Arkansas. This also shows that the guy did more with less. He has some character flaws no doubt but he will win. Someone in the SEC is going to pick him up. IF Butch gets canned I would rather it be us than one of our rivals.
Observations after reading this thread.
1. To all of you who don't want CK or Petrino....please remember all these problems you have with them when one of them winds up at Florida, A&M, Ole Miss, or Auburn and quickly become a force and in Florida's case hand it to us annually. PLEASE remember that YOU wanted the choir boy who has relegated us to 3rd place regularly in the east.
2. Please quit with the "well he's at UofL and their basketball program is dirty so he's dirty" argument. That was a BASKETBALL investigation. NO FOOTBALL IS BEING MENTIONED. So please just stop.
3. "Well he never won the SEC west so we don't want him". You're an idiot. He played in the division with Saban. NOBODY wins over there until he retires.
4. "He's never won big anywhere".....give him OUR resources and OUR recruiting base and I GUARANTEE we are in Atlanta within 2 years.
If you are happy with being average....just keep Coach Flat Top and stop complaining. You want greatness? You better take some risks.
Actually, it's not bogus. After the motorcycle scandal, it came out that he had been in talks with Louisville to leave Arkansas for months prior to the accident. The Hogs did not finish in the top half of the conference in recruiting all 4 years he was there. He actually did worse than Nutt. You might not get a top 5 class at Arkansas, but you should at least be cracking the top 15.Once his bad recruiting gets too much for him to overcome, he bails. You basically confirmed my job hopping assertion with your own words. The guy doesn't stick around more than 4-5 years. It's a fact. He might be able to do "more with less" for a short period of time, but he always hits a wall and then moves on. Pair that with the fact that he's a sleazeball, and I'll take a hard pass. There are better options.
