God speed coach. He has certainly been one of the more entertaining characters of college football for most of my life and I will be sad to see him go.
Still occasionally have to watch those old credit card commercials he did a while back. Give Peggy hell about the charges at Miss Priss' Cat Emporium in the afterlife coach.
My goal is to be at peace like coach Bowden. Let's respect his time with his family, I know that is what i would want. What a gift of a lifetime Florida state players have.
He is one of the top 5 nicest people I have ever met.
My grandfather bought us seats to hear Coach speak in 1996. A few days before, my grandfather passed away. The funeral was the day of the event. My grandmother told me that under no excuses, I was going because he would have wanted me to.
One of my grandfathers best friends was in charge of the event. He took me to meet Bowden. Bowden was told about my grandfather and as he approached me, he grabbed my shoulder and asked if I would eat dinner next to him at his table. We talked about so many things at dinner, and after his speech, we sat down and talked another hour.
It goes down as one of my favorite memories of my life.
He also saw me make my first birdie ever. When I was 9 and visiting my aunt and uncle in Tallahassee. My uncle and I were playing golf and came up to a foresome and Bowden was in the group.. They let us through and I holed out from about 100 yards for a 3. Killarn CC, summer of 1979.
As someone who was born in 1983 and grew up on 90s college football, Bobby Bowden was college football to me. 14 straight top five finishes is mind boggling, no matter what conference you play in.

Coach Bowden is at peace because he knows his happy destination in eternity is established via his personal relationship with Jesus. Great testimony and example for all of us that can have the same. God bless coach.
I did not like hearing this news however he seems capable of handling it about as well as anybody can. He's prepared, he's mortal, time marches on and waits for no man or woman.
Same here grew up watching the great FSU and Miami games, ND also. Didn’t care for them but always loved to hear Coach Bowden speak.. hate to hear this.
Crying shame how his tenure at FSU ended given that he built the program. His exit would have been the equivalent of UT letting Neyland walk away because somebody else wanted the job.
That coach in waiting trend that was so popular for a while there has thankfully died out.
I guess you could say the tenure of Jimbo was a success as they got a natty out of it that one year when Jameis was lights out. How far they have fallen now though is just kind of sad really and a great deal of the blame for that also has to fall at the feet of Jimbo.

Those FSU/Miami games were appointment television back in the 90’s and early 2000’s, and I was a casual college football fan when I was a kid. I remember watching the 93 Notre Dame game too, when Charlie Ward came up short on that last drive. Other than Bama, I don’t think we’re gonna see a run of 14 consecutive top 5 finishes or whatever the # is.
