But R.I.P to Bobby Bowden what a legendary career this man had. He also seemed to be a great man off the field as well. You will be missed. Felt the need to post this in the football portion because he was so impactful.
Great coach & also a down to earth man with great sense of humor who cared for his team & individual players.

Back in the late 80's early 90's I was a closet FSU fan because of him. He was as classy an individual as you would want to meet.

RIP Bobby Bowden, you will be missed.

Several yrs ago son was in baseball tourney in Chattanooga. My family went on tour of ruby falls. While on tour son made a friend with another boy about the same age. .when finished tour my car broke down, had hood up. Gentleman and his son came over to see if he could help. Told him I had called tow truck but were going to be late for sons game. He offered to take my family to ballgame while I dealt with car. Gentleman was Bobby Bowden's son in law who worked as asst coach for Tommy Bowden at Clemson he took my family and I got car to dealership. When I finally got to the game he and his son were still there watching game. Son had great game 3for3. Wrote both Tommy and Bobby Bowden about how nice son in law was. Bobby replied that son in law had told him the story and said that watching little league game was best part of vacation. He went on to say that son in law also told him how good my son played and said to keep FL state in mind if he played football. Suffice it to say that I am a Bowden family fan

I heard Chris Low tell a story on the radio Friday. He said he’d interviewed Bobby B. Several years back… when he was trying to set it up someone had told him that Bowden’s number was in the phone book. He asked him about it and Bowden told him he kept his number public in case any of his former players wanted to talk to him. He said he wanted to make it as easy as possible to reach him.
He also told a story about Bowden reaching out to Nick Saban back in the early 70’s when Saban’s father passed away. He said Bowden knew of Saban’s dad because of his involvement in youth football in West Virginia, where Bowden was coach at the time. Apparently, Saban was a grad assistant somewhere far from home… he said but I can’t recall….and Bowden looked him up… called him without knowing him personally and told him he’d create a grad assistant position on his staff for him so he could come back closer to home for his mother’s sake. That’s a classy guy right there…

The first time I remember seeing him on the sidelines was coaching against Jimmy Johnson and Galen Hall.
