I'd rather go 2-10 and get a REAL HC after this year, then keep going 4-8 or 5-7 and have to wait another 2 years. However, this only works if we will actually pay money for a proven coach, which we have shown no willingness to do in the last decade. Bama fans never complain about how much Satan makes.

You will not get a proven winning HC if you send the message that said coach doesnt get a few years to get things going.

Sorry but it just doesn't work that as simple as that. What coach honestly deserves Saban money? Saban, Dabo and Meyer. Thats it. We arent getting either one. Remember Texas offered Saban $10 million. Did they get him? I think you know the answer.

Its not all about money.

Stoops got out before OKIE fired him! He choked on the big ones too. Everyone at Okla knew Lincoln Riley was the Real Deal; and they would have Fired Stoops to Keep Riley . And That's exactly why Bob Stoops "Retired". You notice Riley Fired Bob's Brother post haste. Another Stoops that couldn't cut it with the Big Boys. Some of Yall don't know diddly about Stoops.

Lincoln Riley is going to Dallas to coach the Cowboys next year. Stoops will un-retire to save his beloved Sooners as did Mack Brown in UNC. On paper Tennessee is a top 10 coaching job according to Urban but hiring a coach a top tier coach seems unlikely. Pruitt has recruited great and will continue to develop "his" players. We need to stay the course and trust Fulmers pick to coach UT.

Bob looked burned out. I d rather have a young fella with fire. The only way you're going to get this thing off the mat is with someone that is arrogant ,cocky, and brash, so full of himself it oozes out every pore of his skin. I just described Kiffin, but he's too morally bankrupt, damaged goods. Beldar will get his time here. Probably this year and at least some of next before they show him his fat buyout and the door. I hope it turns out differently, for all our sake. Starts this week down in turdville. If we're 1-6 after this stretch then this stuff will gain steam, it's the nature of the business.

Bama was in the wilderness for years before they finally stepped up and paid a real coach. For $8-10 million we can get a real HC. Maybe not Saban or Dabo, but Meyer, Bob Stoops, Petersen, etc.

Amen Jarhead! Sit back and relax and give Pruitt 4 years. We tried the merry-go-round and that has not worked for us. The less negativity thrown at this program the better able the coaches will be to recruit good prospects. John Adams needs to retire, he is getting senile :cool:. Pruitt should undress him in public like Saben would.

Serious question. Why do you think it’s just about money? Like I said Texas offered Saban $10 million he turned it down. It was reported that Gruden was offered $10 million and he turned it down. You really think Meyer is going to come back when Saban is still here? Why do you think he left the SEC? Everybody knows Petersen isn’t going anywhere. Stoops? He is done.

So now that’s out of the way, who are the REALISTIC choices? What proven, big time HC will come here knowing he only has 1-1/2 years to turn everything around or he is done?

Excellent post. But it will fall on many deaf ears. Some fans think you just hire and fire until you hit the jackpot. Not even realizing what you said. If you keep firing guts, you will never lure a really good HC here.

People want a proven winner. So do I. IMO, there is only one way to get one. We have to hope Pruitt starts winning more. That way in another 2-3 years, he could have us relevant again. Maybe the roster will be in much better shape and there will be buzz around the program again. I believe if that happens, it would look much more appealing to a big time HC.

If we pull the plug on Pruitt in year two, you can forget about a "proven, big time HC". Not happening. I'd have to think with attendance being down, no bowl, paying off so many ex coaches, we might have to lower our sights on the next guy. Might be able to tempt George Quarles to leave Furman. Fulmer stepping in would be more likely.
