if he's brought in, they need to include a weekly, local "Golf Your Way" TV segment with Randy Wylie into his contract.

You guys that think a move from a mid-major to UT is a lateral, can only be basing it on the immediate, short-term outlook. You have apparently forgotten about tradition, facilities, name recognition, and perhaps more importantly....$$$$$$$.

I'm pretty sure those things were considered....

Butler to UT a step down - that might be one of the most ridiculous things I have ever read on this board, which says a he** of a lot. 2 good years doesn't make them a better program. Plus, our facilities would make their's look like a middle school.

2 good years including a missed game-winner in the National Championship is better than 6 decent-to-good years and one Elite 8 appearance in school history

Yeah but the massive pay raise, huge upgrade in facilities, higher level in competition on a nightly basis, much more intense fan base, and big jump in exposure needs to be factored in

two words, hell no.

Listen, we have no idea what the NCAA is going to do to the program at this point. Knight could come in and get us past this dark period that Bruce created and he'd put us in a good spot to hire a to high rated guy in the next three years. If I were a coach at one of these other schools, I wouldn't want to come to TN without knowing what the penalty the NCAA is going to hit the school with. Bobby is a big name, wouldn't stay long, and would command respect......not try to be their buddies and invite the to a BBQ. That's just my IMO though and the reason I haven't been hired as a AD anywhere, although I hear TN may be looking for one soon.

Rick Byrd and Tubby Smith give you the same thing and are actually viable options, as they have coached in the last 4 years. Not saying that I want either of them, just pointing that out.

I agree they are viable options, but they probably don't want to walk into the mess we have.

Probably true, but this might be Byrd's "dream job" as he is a Knoxville native and UT grad and his dad is highly revered in Knoxville. And maybe Smith wants back in the SEC for his last hurrah. Again, not saying these guys would top my list, but I wouldn't be real upset if either of them got the job as I agree with you that we need some stability and integrity in the program right now, even if these guys only coach for 4-5 more years.

Bob Knight can't relate to players, and players don't want to play for him. No one wants to be put in a choke hold on national TV.

I expect that Bob Knight would be vastly better than the guy that UT hires. He knows how to coach defense. The chance of him being hired is 0%. He has more baggage than Pearl. For instance he can't go to Puerto Rico for fear of being arrested.

Kevin Oneill knows how to coach defense. Want him back?

I'd take him. After all we are already talking about taking his former assistant

Agreed.

It would be nice to see what he could do with all the facilities upgrades and a renewed interest in men's basketball by the administration that has occured since his departure.

You mean the tradition of losing. Becuase before the last 6 years, that is all we have accomplished as far as recruits are concerned. A good coach is a good coach. He can stay where he is and win. And if he wants to win at a higher level, he wont leave for a place that is in the lurch like we are. He would wait for something worth taking.

i'm sure it burns at The General everyday that he still can't go to Puerto Rico.
