That is the first time I have listened to him do an entire football game. He is actually worse than I ever thought, if that is possible. On the Reynolds pick 6 he said something like "for a defensive lineman that is the best possible occurent". WTF? Also, the "checkerboards" when someone scores is just downright corny. Please fire this guy.

Kessling is OK unless you are listening to him while either at the game or watching the game on TV. Then you realize the number of mistakes he makes. It's like he doesn't have a spotter or something.

That call on the Reynolds pick was so bad it made me laugh. He was trying to use the old "d-lineman's dream" saying but someone how completely flubbed it into "best possible ocurrent". I don't even know what an "ocurrent" is.

That is what he meant. Even if he had gotten the word corect it still would have sounded stupid.

Bob, when you look at yourself in the mirror and you ask yourself, am I...

A. Not the greatest in the game but am getting better and am sufficient for the program, its just that following John Ward is tough, over time things will work out.

or

B. I am horrible and am never going to get any better, I am a laughing stock, people really do hate me because I have no talent for announcing and John Ward being great has nothing to do with it.

THE ANSWER IS B .

Just tell the score, Bob... we don't have the score in a corner of the screen at all times when listening to the game on the radio...

he missed a whole play tonight. all the sudden we had 4 yards.

You can't visualize the came with him calling

yeah, thats how i am. i don't think he's terrible when your listening. you at least have a good idea of what's going on. i've heard some other non-ut radio broadcasts where the guys are so bad you don't know what down it is, where the ball is at, or much less what the score is. so i say kesling does an ok job in that department. he just lacks in color.

There is no way Kesling can be as annoying as Tony Kornheiser on MNF.

Maybe you all are just being a bit too critical. Nobody will replace Ward. It's been 9 years... let it go.

I think Bob had close to zero radio experience before taking over for John Ward. He was the Sportscaster for a Knoxville radio station. I guess everyone assumed he would be an easy transition into radio.

You've brought up yet another person that is more deserved of people's disdain. I'm sure there are plenty of people across the country that call games that are far worse than any of you could lie about concerning Kesling.

I like him. He's as good as anyone else. Is there anything that you guys do like about UT football? I mean give me a break. Next you'll be wanting to put Smokey down.

he is not as good as anyone else. i don't hate or even dislike the guy, but he makes numerous mistakes every game
