Bob Kesling

John Ward= love for the Vols.
Bobby= collects a paycheck.

The fact that I don't care for Bob's style on the radio doesn't mean that he doesn't love the Vols. Evidently most don't remember he played for Tennessee. I don't remember when he graduated, but he started out on the radio in the middle 70's, I'd guess around 73 or 74.

Mike Keith does not have an "ego", nor is he a "douche". Not even close.

Mike is the most polite person you will ever meet and comes from a GREAT family. They moved right behind us when I was about 4 years old, I've known them for almost 35 years now...so trust me on this. :good!:

So me endorsing someone who has no connection to the University to replace someone who is a current employee somehow gives you the idea that I'm spewing some sort of UT Company Line?

Keith does have a connection to UT. In fact he has many connections to UT, they're called friends. Just because he's not an employee or have a Phd from UT doesn't mean he's not connected. I just find your x1000 affinity for Keith is for the same reason as your x1000 affinity for adidas.

So advocating for a current employee and representitive of the UTAD to be fired is a pro-UT bias?

You still haven't answered my question about what he did to you to make you go after him on a personal level.

The main problem with Kesling is he's a TV guy trying to do radio. That and the fact that he is always getting the players mixed up.

And the tackle is made by Erik Ainge, make that Eric Berry.

"And Montario Creer, I mean Arian Foster into the checkerboards!"

He does get confused quite a bit.

Mike Keith graduated from Tennessee and worked at the student radio station all 4 years he was in school.

He played one year on the freshman team then became a bat boy for the baseball team.

That's not accurate. I dislike the job he does, but Bob Kesling loves the Vols as much as anybody I know. He's definitely not just collecting a paycheck.

How long have you and bobby been friends?

Or is my statement not accurate because my opinion is different from your opinion?

Actually he does that on purpose. One night he called his wife by a different name and he's trying to convince her that it was an honest mistake.

I didn't remember the exact thing I guess, just remembered that he did play for UT in some capacity.

Back at that time the FCC required radio personalities to be licensed and UT-K had a major program where people went to take the necessary classes to get licensed. The FCC no longer requires any such and hasn't for a long long time. When I got into radio in the early 80's we had to have a license, but no classes were required. Just fill out a form and send them some money. I'm not sure they even do that today, probably still send the givernment some money.

Serveral moons ago I produced Bama's Sports Information Dept's daily sports report. I was supposed to work with student sports reporters but see to it that what Hootie Ingram wanted got reported and it got done. I had about 9 or 10 students that read the sports news. They could either do it or they couldn't. No amount of schooling could fix the ones that couldn't.

No, you're wrong again, he was accurate. Bob is just collecting a paycheck because he can't do the job properly that he's paid for.

Mike is great at what he does but is a bit snarky to meet. I wouldnt call him a douche but I wouldnt drink a beer with him either.

I think Keslings biggest problem is he followed John Ward.

To defend Kesling a bit, John Ward was good cause he started before HD, ESPN, etc.... he was good cause he HAD to bring the game to the listner. Keslings was brought up in a different era.

Having met both Kesling and Kieth I like Kesling better, but Kieth might very well do a better job has a little more energy.

They are all better than bob davie, or the old JP guys, or those early morning ESPN guys.

All you're comments are biased. You wouldn't be posting mobile if your employer didn't scan your internet usage.
I havn't taken any personal attacks at Keith. Just because I think he's a douche is not personal, that's just my opinion.

You're kidding, right? Most of my posts, like this one, come from the web, but I'm not at work at 8:30 or whenever I last posted.

Employers scan internet usage? Never worked in a place that did, nor would I, that's stupid.

I'm not friends with Bob, and I think he does a terrible job.

My point was, he IS a Vol fan and isn't a fan of another school sitting here collecting a paycheck. He honestly believes that he does a good job. He's wrong, but that doesn't mean that he's trying to do a bad job.

I don't know that anyone is advocating Bob be fired. Re-assigned maybe. Bob isn't a bad announcer if he were in the right position. The fact that he's not the best play by play guy doesn't mean he doesn't belong on the radio broadcast team.

Bob never announces the time of the game or the score enough. He screws up player's names all the time. He's hard to follow and worries too much about color comments than actual game calling. Basketballs' easier for him because there's only 5 players to remember. I'm old enough to remember John Ward, and no one will ever be able to compare, but we can do a lot better than Kesling. Nevermind his loyalty to the program or if he cares more than Ward did, if he can't deliver, then he shouldn't be on the mic.

I,along with many Vol Fans, missed the Great calls of John Ward.
There will never be another John Ward. Like others, I would turn down the tv and turn up the radio, of course now Direct tv is 5 seconds behind video so that makes it hard to do.
But, personally, I don't care for ole " Checkerboards" myself and here's why.
I can remember growing up in Knoxville, waiting to get my hair cut. I was next in line and here comes Bob. Why he just jumped right infront of me and took my sport. Thought he was pretty stuck up too. oooo big time sports man on tv.
well, thats my story and I'm sticking to it.
Go BIG ORANGE!!!!

My best friends dad worked with the UT band over 30 years and had lots of access to everyone as you might imagine. He says Bob is an absolute $%& hole as there ever was. He says most people can't stand him and he is a total jerk.

Personally, it makes me PUKE to hear him call a game so i don't listen.
