I just wanted to get this off my chest. Maybe it is my heart missing john ward but i just have never been a fan of Bob Kesling. so to pass the time till kickoff in tennessee, do you all like kesling? if not who would you hire to replace him..

Wow.. Are you really bashing Zasnow? He has really hooked up us over the last week or so.. I hope he still gives us the inside track..:ermm:

Would LOOOOOVE to have Mike Keith, voice of the Titans doing the Vol games!!

PS, I hate Kesling's "Into the checkerboards" catch phrase!

Kesling is an ok guy, but not for the voice of the vols. I would much rather had Mike Keith, but he took the Titans job. I have no clue who else we could get who could compare to John Ward.

I don't mind Bob. I think he is ego free and loves the Vols.

I think much of the problem is he's not John Ward.

I don't like Mike Keith. I think his excitement is contrived and his ego is 5x that of Bob Kesling.

I think Bob is a Pro on and off the mic and I think the network has done a god job surrounding him with good color guys.

Behind the scenes, he works with the coaches and athletes to improve their interview and media skills. He has done wonders with Todd Raleigh who can now go a whole sentence without saying huhhh, hummm, You know. etc

He is no John Ward but he gets the job done. I've always heard he is not very friendly and I met him this year at the Big Orange Caravan in Sevierville this year and Bob was very nice and personable. That being said, he is OK. That's all. He was better when he was the sports report for Channel 10. I will say I love Kris Budden lol

No one can top John Ward, he is the best hands down!! Mike Keith is awesome, I turn on the radio and turn the TV down when I watch the games, just like we did when JW was voice of the Vols!!

I don't really have any issue with him except he isn't John ward.... I grew up listening to John so I was spoiled.

Let's be honest...Ward retiring meant an automatic downgrade no matter who was hired. I think Kesling does better calling Basketball than Football.

Mike Keith x1000.

Whoever above mentioned that he had an "ego" clearly has never met the man or heard him speak in public. He's just about the most humble sports broadcasting personality I've ever met.

Kesling is horrible. Of all the catch phrases he could have come up with "into the checkerboards" has to be the biggest epic failure I've ever heard.

To me, Bob's voice goes hand in hand with UT and East Tenn memories of growning up. I remember too him on channel 10 when I visited my family in the summers. I love both he and John Ward.

In Tennessee it's Mike Keith and then everyone else. When i watch the Titans i usually turn tv down and listen on raido to Keith.

Bob is a good a guy and truely loves the Volunteers. I think Bob is very informative and doesn't mind calling out bad calls by the refs. Sure he isn't as charasmatic as a John Ward or a Larry Munson type but he doesn't try to be. Bob is Bob if he is talking to you in person or giving his broadcast. Bob is a classy guy and has the respect of a lot of people around the country and represents the University well. To many people want to be entertained instead of informed. Eli Gold has to be the worst. Overdramatic about a three yard gain. would you want that type of clown? plus I've heard he is an arrogant jerk in public. I'll take my Bob Kesling any day. "INTO THE CHECKERBOARDS" always makes me smile I'll tell ya that. Go Bob Kesling and GO vols!

I have been a huge tennessee fan all of my life but I had rather listen to the opponents play by play on the radio so I know what is happening as listen to mike keith for a complete game. I'm sure he is a great guy but I don't like anything about his play by play.

Vandy has a good radio guy. Joe Fisher I believe is his name. Doubt they would ever replace Bob for him though.

I used to listen to Ward call the games as I watched, we turn down the TV. I can't stand to listen to Kesling, he gets players names wrong and his sidekick is annoying, sounds like a half-lit fan screaming into the mic.
