A mediocre 'Voice of the Vols' deserves a mediocre team to match his skill level, huh?

Poor Bob can't say two sentences without flubbing up and making a mistake.

He cant' even read a paragraph from a flippin' tele-prompter without screwing up.

He sucked as a sportscaster at WBIR (flubbing his lines), and followed the Peter Principle to his present job in 1999.....which he was not qualified for.

Phil and Bob seem made for one another. Dumpy 'n' Dorky, the both of `em.

I'am not going to pile on bob. But i will say i don't care for his commentary. After listening to john ward all those years, i'am just spoiled i guess.

Bob sucks!!!!!! We need to change everything including the radio guy!!!!!

He's in the unfortunate position of having to follow one of the true legends of his profession. It wasn't possible for them to get a play by play guy that could even come close to matching what we had on the radio for all those years.

If you like pointless screaming after a 5 yard run, then Mike Keith is your man.

I'll still take Mike Keith. At least there is no question in anyone's mind which team he is for. He is Titans fan first and foremost, and that's what I like in a hometown radio announcer.

I would usually make a semi-wise crack at a thread like this, but the mood I'm in......Yes, I'm down with Ajax'ing ourself of anyone in anyway associated with the football (In an Admin role) program because when the new coaches on campus come in that's just a possible spot of cancer waiting to grow.

Mike Keith is ok, but for some reason I've never cared for his voice for some reason. Or maybe his delivery. Something about him has just never seemed right. I just don't ever associate him with great play-by-play.

I also thought the Titans broadcast was MUCH better when Pat Ryan was the color commentator. Frank Wycheck really sucks. For one thing, he has anything but a radio voice. Way too high. Two, he's worse than Blob in trying to talk. He screws up words all the time and get tongue tied very easily. I know he got the gig only because he's more marketable as a popular former player and to cross promote the morning show on 104.5, but he's horrible. He's ok as comic relief almost on the Wake-Up Zone, but that's about it. Ryan is way better at actually describing the action and giving insight and obviously has a much better radio voice.

When the heck did Wycheck take over for Pat Ryan? I used to listen to the broadcast most Sunday's 4 or 5 years ago because I was rarely home on Sunday afternoon. I haven't listened as much lately as I am usually home to watch on TV, and thanks to Janet Jackson, all TV broadcasts are on 5 sec. delay now, while radio is still live, so I can't really listen to radio while watching on TV.

Say what you want about Kesling, but did anyone pay attention to Verne Lundquist? At least once he called us LSU, on consecutive Lennon Creer runs, he said it was Arian Foster, and even called a QB run a handoff. I seriously thought he might be having some senility creeping up.

True, Lundquist is near the end of his career, and it shows.

However, he once was a top notch announcer; something that Bob Kesling will never, ever be.

I still like Lundquist even though he is getting worse each year. A senile Lundquist is still better than Kesling.

I think Ryan was let go after he was a little too critical, on air, of the team's effort on the field. Happened two or three seasons ago, perhaps VY's first when the Titans were total crap through the first half of the season. I'm pretty sure he finished the season, but Wycheck replaced him the following year.

Yeah I think that was it. Wycheck started doing it for the 2006 season I think. And Wycheck is 100% positive Titan homer.

Which BTW, a bit off topic, but I didn't realize until today that the Titans switched their light blues to their "main" jersey and now the navy blue jersey is their "alternate". That's all fine and good, but I wish they'd try and wear their white pants with the light blue instead of always wearing the navy pants and please never wear the light blue jerseys with the light blue pants again. I'm guessing they don't wear light blue jerseys/white pants because it will look too "Oiler" but I think it would look better than light blue jersey/navy pants. The light blue/navy pants look too Arena League to me.

I thought it had to do something with a kicker missing a game winning FG. After he missed it he said something like:

"That has to be hard to drive all the way down the field and put the game in the hands of some foreign kicker."

at least he didn't say "liquored up kicker" like Manning did in reference to Vanderjagt mouthing off.:)

Bob Kesling: very boring. UT can hire someone much better than this guy. He needs to go back to TV.
