BM starts next game

Played better than Peterman did his first outing didn't he......I just think either BM or Shrout would improve so much by years end that we couldn't wait for 2020 to start...otherwise its going to be an awful off season....awful
Maurer definitely didn't have the deer in the headlights look that Peterman did. I liked Maurer's mobility and he made some good throws. He also made some mistakes, that was to be expected in his first appearance against an SEC opponent. What I liked the most is that he appeared to be ready for the moment.

I can’t imagine anyone that would expect him to look like a world beater being thrown to the wolves with a unit he’s had little if any practice with. He could’ve looked better if he were given the same opportunities as JG.

Thats the key...BM working next week and the bye week with the first team....it would make a big improvement in his game...getting in snyc with the offense

What skill set of JG? Still not being able to read a defense presnap despite being a 4th year college player? Still not being able to feel pressure in the pocket? Still missing wide open receivers? The ineptitude of getting a delay of game penalty at the start of a quarter?
I am not saying it is a competent skill set but his skill set is clearly better to the untrained eye. Give JG some slack. Look. what he has been through and clearly has not had a leader as a HC in the last two years.

Yes he did....man you saw no fear in his eyes that is for sure...that kid wants to take the team down the field...he has the it and he wants the ball....let him learn the rest of the season

He through into double and triple coverage about five or six times. No way he can play.

Some slack for being a 4th year player who has not grown at all, especially mentally, in the game of football? No.

I agree. But next up IS Georgia. So his improvements may be masked by being overmatched. That’s when the “I told you so’s” come out from the ones that truly believe CJP has been fair in the criticisms.

He was errant on them, but he took shots down the field which was nice.

One thing I noticed is how far off the line of scrimmage the safeties were when he came in.

kid was excited...was on sideline talking and excited...Loved seeing the enthusiasm from him...
D line played somewhat better...LB's a little better
O line pass blocking pretty good...improvement for sure...looks like we got out starting 5 O lineman
Go with BM and Shrout from here on out....get those two ready for next game...
Look to next year.....we'll be much better on offense by years end and ready for 2020
Guys played their hearts out today vol fans make sure to give those credit to whom credit is due
My last BM could play better than BM.

JG literally threw one interception, directly to a Florida DB, and you are worried about Maurer throwing incomplete passes into double or triple coverage?
BM is just not anywhere ready. Not saying that JG is either but he is closer than the Freshman.

They need to give him first team reps at this point.
JG can sit on the bench and pout. Who cares if he transfer. Ride with BM and JT, we're supposed to be getting Bailey that every one here seems to love.
We gain nothing continuing with JG

Can we fire Pruitt's azz right there on the sideline if Maurer doesn't start against Georgia?

I wish.

We gain a 5 qb competition next year by BM staying on the bench as opposed to possibly only 3 if he established himself as a clear starter.

A lot can be done in two weeks...a lot...offensive line already looked better today....I'm at a loss at what we can do with the back end of our D though...for the most part receivers open all day long
