Bluetick breeder

I need some help Volnation. I am looking for a breeder local or close to Knoxville for Bluetick Hounds. Any info or leads would be much appreciated..... GO VOLS!!!

All kinds of bluetick on there for sale. Keep in mind this is a hunting dog site and they are priced as such, they can get expensive depending on their blood line. Ive owned several and they are great hunting dogs, not sure about how they are strickly as a pet. I would imagine they would be too high strung for me.

I will have to disagree. It's all in blood line.

I had one not long ago. A male. I bought him from the most reputable breeder in Arkansas.

I saw my pups aunt and sister on the way to a hunt. Breeder told me the 2 females had already made him 20k that year and it was April.

He was a great pup. But his nose and hunting desire was more than I had time to handle him. Sold him to someone. They called 2 weeks later and said he out hunted every dog they had.


Now the one we have now is my wife's dog. Santa brought her to my wife last Christmas.

Her blood line is breed more as a pet. Don't get me wrong there's not a squirrel safe in our yard but she is gentle. Well behaved and great with kids and other dogs/cats.

My son showed her at the local fair and won 2nd place in breed and 1st in obedience.

My wife takes her to work with her everyday. She roams around the office as she pleases.

They are like any other dog out there. You have to find the right blood line qualities you are looking for.

Years ago my Dad had one, we took her to NC to be bred, the sire had Red Mange. The vet gave 1/2 of the pups the OK and the other 1/2 was infected, she had 13 and 12 lived. Talk about a royal pain in the arse, calf suckle and then 13 dogs baying at the moon.You need to be careful and make sure that either has a clean bill of health. Sandy was basically a large lap dog

I strongly disagree.

I have had blue ticks. They are stubborn and need to be trained early but if you do the right things they are GREAT dogs.

Best place is Davis branch in shelbyville TN. They actually bred Smokey 10. They have a site, just look them up. They are actually taking deposits for pups with same dam and sire as Smokey 10.

Do they shed?

How are they with people with alergies?

Do they howl uncontrollable?

Do they smell bad?

These have been my only reservations on them.

I spoke with David Branch where Smokey 10 is coming from, they want 1500 for the same parent's. That is about 1000a higher than everyone else, i would pay a few extra for the smokey bloodline but not have 1000
