I think Fulmer gets too much crap for being over weight from other fans. He has an excuse atleast... he played on the offensive line. There are tons of out of shape coaches.. including in the SEC.

If Phil catches that much crap... then jeez I'd hate to be Charlie Weis, the kansas coach, or Sly Croom.

Disagreeing with the guy is one thing; taking personal shots is another. What did Fulmer ever do to you?:nono:

That is EXACTLY Right, Not only that. He was an Offensive Lineman for UT! I bet people weren't making fun of him then. I'd also like to see how many of these people that make fun of him are A. Overweight themselves and B. Could lose the weight after being required to be that big the majority of thier young adult hood.

And to see this coming from our own fans is Sad.

To tell you the truth he is not even that big. I've met him in person. Their are plenty of coaches across America that are larger than Phil.

I would hate to challenge the Fridge at Kansas to a pie eating contest. I wouldn't want to get to close either, he might mistake me for the pie.

I was just thinking the same thing. He's obviously a big guy, but he's not nearly as big as some make him out to be.

Yeah - when we went to the Cal game he came out of the little side underground visitor stairs (don't ask... they only had 1 tunnel and the visitors got the shaft.. it was just a bad facility) which is right along the walk way to our seats and he was probably 2 feet from me as he came out. Not a big man at all... compared to a lot of people. But it was pretty sweet that we walked by it right as him and the captains came out - kind of off topic.

Let's give Phil a break.....maybe he has a thyroid problem. :)

Yeah, Mangino ate it.

As a former lineman myself, I'll tell you from experience how difficult it is to keep weight on while playing and off after your playing days are done. With the practices we used to run, there simply isn't enough food in the world to outstrip the rate of calorie burning. I used to eat between 5,000-8,000 calories a day and I still would drop around 20% of my body weight during the season (for a 300-pounder, that would be 60 pounds...but I've never gotten close to 300 at any point in my life).

Of course, the big problems come from the sudden halt to all of that activity but still eating more than needed to sustain life. Of course, it took me 5 1/2 years after my last game to get back to what I was before my final season, but I've gone past that by a nice margin.

I think I have seen it before.. Its funny how its ok to CPF names when he is losing games but now that we are doing a little better its not ok.. I have seen on this site him called Phil , ole krispy cream,.. etc.. Now I have nothing personally against him. I may not be that crazy about him as a coach but thats different. That being said I sincerely hope he proves me wrong this year.

I love when opposing fans critique the physique of Fulmer. Why are the so obsessed with another mans weight?

IMO, it is always stupid and shows a lack of class, win or lose.

true.. I was just pointing out how fickle fans can be.
CPF was the devils spawn just a few weeks ago and now that he has managed a few wins he is next to godly.
