Do you think they would have stayed to play for an interim coach if UT retained BP and he was then suspended by the NCAA for 2 years? I can't imagine that.

Also don't think we could sign any players of consequence to play for some interim coach for 1-2 or 5 years. I suppose it's possible, but it strikes me as an absurd notion.

I think that everyone knew it was highly likely that Pearl would get the show-cause penalty when this all started. So, they did unprecedented things to penalize him ahead of the NCAA ruling to try to avert the suspension, because they didn't want to lose him. Because of the additional 'bump' allegation and probably other reasons, the extraordinary self-imposed penalties weren't going to be enough to avoid the show-cause penalty and that the NCAA let UT know it. So UT essentially had no choice in the matter, in the end. All just my opinion, of course.

I have a nice life, thank you. I simply prefer that if people are going to post overly emotional nonsense, they would at least present it in a form that is comprehensible enough for me to immediately recognize it.

First, I am still a fan of Bruce Pearl. He lied to investigators and after that, unexplicably, had other violations he didn't think to tell anyone about. That was his death blow and he should know that. However, Jerry Green, actually had a higher winning percentage than Pearl so its not as if UT has never been a winning program. I believe, during the Ray Mears years we were also very good, am I right? I will miss Pearl but he is not the only coach who can win. The athletic program is under scrutiny no one could have ever guessed. Maybe Hamilton should lose his job to I'm not sure. Hamilton tried everything he could to save Pearl and Bruce didn't do his part. However, he did have the smarts to hire someone to keep an eye on Kiffin and that will likely save us from football sanctions. UT will survive maybe with sanctions, but didn't Alabama survive 2 major football probations and become a National Champion in football?
