We have the pieces in place, now we have to put it all together and maximize it.

We did not have the pieces before.

I just don't understand.... We got rid of a coach and staff that was apparently unmotivated and couldn't adapt to a rapidly changing atmosphere in CFB and EVERYBODY knew it. Now we have a staff that is HIGHLY motivated, hard working and by all accounts upfront about what they're looking for and some people on this board are still unmoved? This staff is by far the most concentrated group of high level talent I've ever heard of much less witnessed... The naysayers will be choking down the Crow in copious quantities this time two years from now... Of course none of them will admit they were doubters by that time...
are you kidding me. By and large people are excited about the staff, but at some point, the rubber has to meet the road. Players have to come here and we have to employ them effectively. Great coaching staffs with shoddy football players is simply a losing combination.

Back to the topic...unless CLT's title at 'Bammer was just a title, I would say he's a pretty good LB's coach. I saw some pretty good LB play down there this year.

Saban is a great coach. But no different than any other in the fact, he has to have good assistants from the development standpoint. Saban has the scheme, but has to rely on position coaches to get these players ready to play it.

Thompson is a good position coach, and must be thick skinned, he has worked for Saban twice.

]yeah, the old staff coddled them so much that our Coach had a trophy named after him for most off the field issues.[/B] Granted he never won, but there is a huge difference in a drafted NFL player and an incoming college freshmen.

Also, if you think just by names being put together, this staff is automatically better than the old one, you are the one terribly mistaken. Just like chemistry can screw up a group of players, it can screw up a group of coaches. You, nor anyone else will know until at least October how this is going to turn out.

Were you trying to make a point with that statement?

and I'm just telling you time will tell how much better they are. You don't know. You have no idea.

I never said he didn't tell Boyd he wouldn't be happy here. I told you it's a bad move. Someone with that kind of talent should be able to fit in just about anywhere. Especially a team that had such poor QB play the past year.

I think it's funny as hell that you are making the point that we don't know if the coaches will be better(even though their resumes are stellar) but you are so sure about Boyd's talent. How do you know Boyd is so talented and will succeed? You don't but you're comparing him to McFadden. You're assuming he is going to be good based on HS performance and the AA game. Do you understand how silly it is to be convinced by HS performances of a teenager but not convinced by professional resumes of proven, grown men? Chemistry is important but a lot of these guys are family or friends and the rest are paid professionals at building that chemistry. I seriously doubt there are very many coaches in the SEC who can't adapt and build chemistry at most places they go.

I'm not claiming Boyd will prove to be a winner, but his odds are at least as good as the coaching staff. I guess from sn that you are from or at least live in gainesville. It's a shame you can't grasp reading comprehension. It would have saved you about 90% of all that typing.

What possible reason could anyone have given to believe our offense was going to be stout? With an experienced QB and RB the year prior we weren't much to talk about and Crompton had not proven anything coming in to this year to make us think we would be improved from the year prior. There were fewer proven producers on the offensive side of the ball in '08 than '07.

He's not getting a raise because he's a great linebacker coach. Quite the contrary. As a position coach, he is not known for being a good teacher, game day coach, or strategist. He's actually quite mediocre at best.
So why would Kiffin, Tennessee's new coach, dangle whatever carrot he did to entice Thompson to leave? It's because Kiffin apparently has a new hobby. He collects coaches with extreme recruiting ability.
Kiffin's belief is that if he assembles his "dream team" of recruiting geniuses, he can win with talent alone and his lack of coaching ability will be overridden by great athletes.
He's got Daddy, Monte Kiffin, to bail him out on defense, and maybe raw talent can carry the offense.
FINE! Fulmer won for years because we could out talent everyone else.

I'll be more than happy to take another NC on talent alone. I don't care what formula CLK uses to win, as long as it works.
