Blame Game

The weather channel will now name all hurricanes Jalen. They said they will just quit before they hit the coast and residents will be safer.

Amazing how many "Vol fans" demonstrate more loyalty to a coach than to the program or the players who lay their bodies on the line.

Maybe you guys don't remember that JONES made Hurd the poster boy for UT's resurgence. He praised him as the type of player UT wants and needs. So even if you are right and Hurd is the biggest dirtbag who ever walked.... Jones is still DEAD WRONG since he thought Hurd was a cornerstone for rebuilding the program.

Several players have left their teams during the season and were able to play elsewhere the following season. I don't know the rules but maybe that's what Hurd is trying to do?

But the bottom line is that if Jones BS's players like he BS's everyone else.... this is far from over and it won't end pretty.

You're usually a pretty level headed poster so I don't get the anger you're displaying here. However, it is indeed over. CBJ handled it well in the presser and so did Jalen's Mom with her FB post. There haven't been any attacks coming from the coaches or the players. 74 needs to drop it and move on the same way CBJ and the team have. All these posts simply keep the drama and speculation alive. They do no one any good, especially Jalen.

The responses from posters don't come from sheeple or the program. They're not worshiping the coach just regular posters stating their opinions and speculating on what they've heard and many are responding directly to what 74 has said for over a year now and the contradictions that have put out there.

This message board will always have speculation and rumor on it but in the real world it's over. He's gone. The program has moved on. Whatever happened is something we'll never know for sure because there are multiple sides to all of this that we'll never hear but in the end it doesn't matter because he left.

As for being a cornerstone, Jalen certainly was one for his first two years here and everyone is grateful for his contributions. He did a lot to help us get where we are but the drama that has come out this year is something we're not grateful for and should've been kept in house instead of plastered on a message board.

The people involved in this need to move on as both CBJ and Jalen already have.

don't pay any attention to these clowns on volnation.

75 percent of them are dumber than dirt and worship every sad sack excuse of a coach tn hires.

from wonderboy to dufus and now the used car salesman.they are easily fooled as was Jalen.

until we hire a true program builder.a proven big league winner.thus is the life of of our Tennessee vols.

Aren't you special 😬

This right here sums it up. Seems Butch and Jalen have moved on. I was surprised (only not) to see Vol74 (Hurd's supposed uncle who now has been identified as allegedly his step dad and or his step dad and mom sharing an account). I saw on here in recent months Vol74's posts threatening how "the team would be nothing if Jalen left," and now we are hearing those same words allegedly coming from Jalen in the stories circulating.

I saw many advise Vol74 that coming here and sharing Jalen's feelings (or his supposed feelings) did him no favors and they were advised to stop, but they carried on full force. I must say, I found it rather distasteful and I wondered how Jalen would feel about that. As this has unfolded, they do seem to be the ones keeping this talk going. You can't expect people on VN to not respond.

We have hyperbole, conspiracy theories, and the wild rantings of team Hurd rolled up into one. Wonder what you guys think about these evil coaches across the country that recruit a kid for one position and the kid ends up somewhere else once they get them on campus. Is that a 'lie' in your book? Or a coach reassessing a situation and doing what is best for the team? You guys sound like grade school kids with this 'He lied to him' martyr routine. We don't need to wait for some mythical truth, those of us with a functional brain are seeing the truth come out in this thread with our very own eyes.

You are soooooooo batting a 1.000 right here!!

Jalen can do whatever and I hope he succeeds but acting like he was wronged when he was on his way to becoming Tennessee's leading all time rusher just doesn't hold water. If he wants to leave that's fine but don't act like he didn't get a fair shake....that to me, is total selfish and arrogant behavior. Just move on and I wish him the best.

The mom tried to end it this way ... then step Dada & Vol74 cameth down from the mountaintop and read the staff and non donkey kissers the riot and victimization act as a PR ploy that was a total fail and it's been on like Donkey Kong since ... and rightfully so .. if the young man would have spoken for himself rather than sending out dubious mouthpieces he would have gotten a more serious and sympathetic ear ... for me ... not now he's Riley Ferguson #2. Hope that fry station works out for you Jalen.

Yeah, I think it's entirely possible. Who would want a 5 star RB, who will most likely break UT's rushing record. You might put up with a lot of bull**** to appease that kind of talent.

I think Butch screwed the pooch on this one by putting up with too much BS for too long. He allowed outward disrespect and still kept JH on the team. That only erodes his ability to lead these players. It creates a disrespectful atmosphere--something a great coach like Saban would never allow to happen.

Butch should have nipped this in the bud before the close of fall camp and personally kicked this young man out of the program then. We would have a better record right now if he had.

It sounds like Butch needs to grow a spine and not let the inmates run the asylum.

Cue the frivolous lawsuit talk. You yourself said no one knew that he had a concussion and 'that was the kind of competitor he was'. Can't even keep up with your own bs.

He/she also stated JH put himself back in the UGA game. That it wasn't the coach's doing. And then he sure celebrated like a mad man after JJ's catch. But now, we have the veiled threats of 'he will talk to the right people'. Better get the stories straight.

The sad part in all of this is that NFL GMs will notice this, they will notice the family making these veiled threats and wonder if it'd be worth the risk to draft/sign him.

The kid could still have a future in the NFL if the other family members shut their mouths and move on like Jalen and his mom have obviously done.

Alas, you got a mouthy step-dad/uncle/what ever causing more issues for the kid and possibly costing him millions. If I was Jalen I'd be telling my step-dad/uncle/what ever to shut their damn mouths and sit down.

Whether we agree with him leaving/quitting or not doesn't matter at this point, I feel bad for the kid if that's his role model/father figure and causing all these problems now.

I don't agree that Jalen should have left. Stick it out, man up and deal with adversity, but how many times are you going to let a Mfer lie to you before you say screw it. Jalen is a quiet person. He doesn't do interviews and doesn't do a lot of talking period. You can take that as arrogance or maybe he just doesn't want to be bothered. I don't expect him to ever come forward and say anything cause it's just not his style, but I'll give you an example of the song and dance BS he got every week from Lying Lyle. This is a quick and easy example of what I'm talking about.

I'd say most everyone here are big Vol fan, and I also suspect that you all caught Butch's press conference last week, right? Remember when he talked about mixing up the running game, running out of pistol, etc. Hell, there was a whole thread titled "I-formation" on here because of it, and we talked about it all week.

Well.....

Where was it? Did you see it? Was old Butch lying to us? Did he gas your head up all week that we were going to do something different and then we didn't? What if you got that same ole song and dance on a daily baisis? I promise you're going to get to a point where you're over it.

Last year - "Hey coach, thanks for everything, but I think I might not be the best fit for the program. I'm interested in looking around and maybe go to a more traditional system when I can use my skills better". "No, Jalen we'll do more things to utilize your skill set better here".

Outback Bowl. Out of maybe 8-9 times Jalen runs out of the I, he averaged about 10 yards per carry.

This year - nothing different. Runnng his big a$$ sideways or into a brick wall. Concussion, back injuries, just beat the hell out of.

I PROMISE if someone lies to you over and over and over again, you're going to do something different too!

Is it true that he didn't practice much the week before the SC game? If true, it would be a bit hard to put any new plays in to match his skill set if he can't practice, wouldn't it?

This is the part that does not totally make sense to me...You mention him running into a brick wall, etc., and that he wants to run out of the I formation. What does he think will happen if this offense with who we have at the skill positions (QB, TE, WRs) switched to the I? He would face 9 man fronts. But a fullback would solve all of his problems? To me this is just proof that it was all about him, and not what was best for the team. To appease him we need to run two completely different offenses based on which RB is in the game?

It's fine that he wants to leave-seriously, I wish him well. But some of the reasoning just does not add up. It's possible that Jones knows what is better for the team and the offense as a whole. Now, if he kept feeding Jalen stories about utilizing the I formation, or whatever, then that's on him, and its' stupid. It seems that this day was always coming, and instead of sticking his head in the sand hoping it wouldn't Jones may have exacerbated it by not just letting him walk away last year.

But let's not make excuses for a RB who demands the entire offense adjust its system to fit his talents whose name doesn't start with Leonard and end with Fournette. But then again Les Miles was just fired for refusing to adapt to more of a spread attack.

Sorry I put a person in the uniform and not some robot.

You guys put these players on the same level as Marines going to war. Give their all and no questions asked even when they are breathing in Agent Orange.

Sorry I dont feel that way.

Also, where are the 15 different threads on Danny who got kicked off the team for Meth? Don't see him getting thrown under the bus.

I thought during an interview he was missing front teeth. That would add up.

See, I don't think he gets drafted. I think an on field red flag will be the production of Kamara and Kelly.

Just look at Kamara & Kelly's YPC. That's all we need to see. Hurd was not as good of fit in this offense , that's clear for anyone to see. He wasn't used to fit his skill set but here is the kicker, he sure found success in his first 2 seasons with this offense.

I am calling bs on this diatribe.First your family thanks Tn, now Butch is a lying mfer. So which is it? Frankly if you are advising Jalen you have done a pretty Piss poor job pal. Why didn't Jalen go to Butch after the bowl game and say coach I am better suited for TE, can you give me the next two years to refine the position? You and others evidently poisoned this young man's mind and it is you and his dumb advisors that turned him into a cancer on this team. Just leave the forum and spend your time destroying this kids life. If you don't think every team in the NFL is paying attention then you are a bigger fool than I thought.

always appreciate your posts...spot on brother!

I always find it ironic when some of the dumbest forms of life that have ever crawled on this board act as if they are in the enlightened section.

theres your 75% er chirping in,nothing to add..hug ur butch bear and grow up.

The two situations aren't in the same ballpark (hell, they're not even the same sport). Kamara transferred after the season to a junior college as a redshirt freshman buried on the depth chart, while Hurd left his team in the middle of the season as the starting running back.

come on man, football is the same sport.

kamara didn't want to earn the starting spot and left the team.

hurd was the starter but was sold a false bill of sale by jones.we have struggled from game one.is that on hurd or jones

the kid played his heart out for a coach who hires a swim coach for his o.c. to maintain control of a offense scheme that does not work.

you can keep the faith all you want,i said debord would be jones undoing.just a matter of time.

we have hired a o.c, who brought no staff...then we hire a d.c. who brought no staff...jones is a control freak..thats not how it works in big league ball.

As much as I think Hurd's "demand for the I" or whatever is misguided it is hard not to agree with this. There are issues on both sides here.

He needs to be honest with the players. If that is not happening then kids will keep leaving.

Basically you've been proven wrong with every post you've head butted into your keyboard. And on top of that you use some lame term like 'Butch bear' and tell me to grow up. I support what's best for the program. And firing people left and right isn't what's best for the program. Guys like you are the lowest common denominator losers that blow up the local phone lines with your mind numbing stupidity. And the sad part is you believe your own bs. Another Dunning Kruger victim. Go join the other mindless zombies for another groupthink session.

Truth!

CBJ stood to lose everything if Hurd had decided to leave the program before the NW game last year--for precisely these reasons!!

Leaving in December would've enabled Jalen to transfer somewhere else with 3 years to complete his final 2...and playing in 2017....you can bet the farm that CBJ knows those rules....

So--once again, it was CBJ who stood to lose his reputation and his recruiting edge if Hurd walked--and it would have been JONES in the bulls-eye of public scrutiny and criticism instead of a 20 year old player.

MOTIVE is everything....and CBJ had MOTIVE to do anything to keep Hurd at UT for his 3rd year....

Critical thinkers are gonna get that.....but sheeple never will......:salute:

But the 2 aren't mutually exclusive. Butch probably did want to keep Hurd around and did what he had to do. It's also very possible to see how the entire "Hurd quit on the team and was a bad teammate" story is true.
