Blame Game

Butch could've absolutely ripped Jalen in his press conference like Saban did Blake Barnett...but he didn't. Butch refuses to throw a player under the bus to the media...but here is part of "Team Jalen" on here absolutely ripping Butch.

Butch is showing some class even though he knows the perception that Hurd's departure can create and you are on here calling Butch names. Why on earth should anyone listen to your BS? You would do Jalen a big favor by just staying off the forums.

You think the NCAA is going to have a field day with a coach that knowingly put a concussed player back in the game in Ga? And the sheep wonder why he said lower-body injury. That's on the family and whatever they want to do. Just know that "did" happen and they have documentation and records.

Oh.....

Man, everyone has a breaking point. Dumbest thing in the world for him to do. No one can agree to his decision, but you know it must have been pretty bad. Think about all of the adversity he's gone through while he's been here. Kid had been beaten brutally on a regular basis - and no one can dispute that. So, I don't know the answer to "why now". I guess he was just done.

So it was claimed a back injury -- why not just go with that, and stand on the sidelines with JRM and the other injured Vols ? No, he decides to quit on the team altogether

If he thinks the beating he's taken so far is brutal he's in for a rude awakening in the NFL.

Did he actually think this thing through or did he just throw a tantrum and quit? There's no way to rationalize quitting mid season because you can't run the I formation.

Oh.....

Jalen's stepdad, or you :), said on FB that he put himself in for that kickoff. If you're gonna post both places you probably need to keep the story straight.

Tom Luginbill's reaction to Jalen Hurd's transfer: "I think the team's locker room will be better off for it, despite depth being worse."

This is the perception of his locker room presence. Anyone thinking he will get drafted hasn't watched enough drafts.

Oh.....

I mean if it did actually happen they should inform the NCAA. I mean they'd probably start bringing it to light but then quit half way through the process anyway

Look at all of Jalen's TDs over the years and see how the teams responds. Sometimes everyone is excited and sometimes no one hardly acknowledges him. Maybe he sat by himself on the bus ride to the game or maybe he sat by himself at the team dinner? Seriously. The guy is a loner and to himself most of the time, but hey if it's fits your agenda run with it!

See that's where you are wrong. I don't have an agenda, I would love for Jalen to still be on the team, but with a different attitude. You are right, he gave a lot to the program but he didn't give more than anyone else that is still on that team. In fact, they are giving more because they are fighting through the adversity and the crap they hear on a daily basis. The difference is they are doing it as a team and as teammates.

Keep believing it was "his attitude or his locker room presence". It's all going to come out I can promise you that!

I'm actually glad that Vol74 is sticking around. He'll get to see Kelly and the team have success and realize that the Vols are gonna be the Vols with or without Hurd. Sherion Jones left once, but it turns out the grass isn't always greener. Should have mentioned that to Jalen.

So Jalen was suppose to stand on the sidelines, pretend to have an injury he didn't have?

You do realize these are kids and not live stock right?

It's a game of football not WW2 fighting the Nazi's.

His coach lied to him multiple times and then through out a BS injury to protect his own butt.

If he had admitted it was a concussion, the heat goes of of Jalen asap. But Butch never did that. Left it vague so Hurd could be a scape got for the miserable season they have had so far.

So now all the sheep will blame Jalen for the 3 losses and poor play. It's all Jalens fault and his ego and the players not giving their all because of Jalen.

NO. It was Butch. His lousy scheme. His lies. His poor coaching.

Vol74 - Tell Jalen thank you for his contributions. However, be sure to tell him that I disagree with his decision to quit.

This year - nothing different. Runnng his big a$$ sideways or into a brick wall. Concussion, back injuries, just beat the hell out of.
!

Well if he is beat the hell out of now after playing the likes of App State, Ohio, etc., wait til Eric Berry meets him over the middle and NFL LBERS are popping him. NFL players and coaches will not put up with any BS, no matter how he feels. And they definitely have no sympathy for a quitter.

He made the threat last year that if Hurd left we'd see the offense not do as well. Welp I bet we do better and I'm not crying any tears Hurd is gone. He was giving pansy effort even before the Georgia fumble

Sherion was a much different situation.

1. It was in the offseason...NOT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SEASON.

2. Sherion was not a starter and had a lot of competition in front of him. A position where only one player plays during the game. There is no rotation like there is at running back. Him leaving is understandable. He realized he made a mistake leaving, manned up and came back. Sherion DID NOT QUIT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SEASON.

This is going too far guys. None of you are doing anyone any favors, especially you 74.

You're right..... whatever happened between Hurd and Jones or Hurd and the team is their business.
I hate that he quit because he had a good legacy right up to that moment and now he'll forever be known as a quitter.

This is a facebook comment I found from a guy with Volquest, Interesting read: I do not post often. I have been a subscriber since 1999. I only bring info that I think that is useful to the board. I have this information indirectly but the source is one with direct knowledge of the entire situation from inside the program. Flame if you choose to flame. No big deal to me. That said everything here makes perfect sense and explains the past several weeks events with no exceptions. Here goes:

When Hurd fumbled at the goal line in the GA game, CBJ got in his face. He told Butch to f$ck off and then said that he was the team and that we would not win another game without him. Got benched of course. Kamara went in but later in the half was gassed and they tried to put Hurd back in but he refused. He eventually went in and scored on the pass before half. After that he came back to the sideline and said he was not going back in the game (to me this explains why he still had his hat at the end of the game. If he had a concussion, he would have had it taken away per protocol).

Next week he no showed practice M-W and came back Thursday (not injured as was reported). When he came back, Butch put it to the team to decide whether he would play. They voted that he could come back but should be suspended for the A&M game (thus he did not travel). Program put out that he was injured to cover that.

At USCjr he was not playing great and Kelly started getting reps and moving the ball. Hurd got PO'd and when Kelly got dinged up they called his number and he refused to go in the game. Carlin went in and then caused the fumble with Dobbs on that series. Dobbs got in Hurd's face on the sideline (not typical for Dobbs) about quitting on the team. He refused to play the rest of the game. Kept his helmet. Not injured.

Sunday night another team meeting to decide what the players wanted to do about him. Several called him out for quitting on the team and being selfish. He then walked out of the meeting. They then made up the transfer story to cover.

I have always admired Jalen for coming to UT and for playing very hard for us. He has helped this team win ballgames. I can forgive physical mistakes and mental mistakes. I could forgive the fumble even though it badly hurt the team. What I cannot forgive is refusing to go in when your team needs you. If this is all true, (and I see no reason to not believe this) we are much better off without him. We need talented players but we cannot afford to have players that are selfish to this degree.

You mean you're not going to believe it like everything else here. Been around JH a long time and while he drinks a few here and there like any kid, dang sure doesn't have a drinking problem.

Depends of course what your version of a drinking problem is.

For being a D1 athlete the severity of his drinking (not how often) was an issue.....

Sorry I put a person in the uniform and not some robot.

You guys put these players on the same level as Marines going to war. Give their all and no questions asked even when they are breathing in Agent Orange.

Sorry I dont feel that way.

Also, where are the 15 different threads on Danny who got kicked off the team for Meth? Don't see him getting thrown under the bus.
