Blade Tidwell

The run-up to the start of the season has quickly transitioned from uncontrollable excitement to a bad nightmare. First Halvorsen, now Blade? Two huge arms that now (at best) will be back in late April or maybe not at all.

This really sucks. 😭

Thoughts and prayers with Blade on a quick recovery.

Actually third season in a row. Crochet in 2020.
Losing guys this early in preseason makes me wonder if something is wrong with the pace of practice. That is to say, not enough time or total offseason physical maintenance of the appropriate type.

If I'm correct in both Crochet's and Tidwell's shoulder injury or pain, it accumulates over years of repetitive throwing, it just doesn't happen overnight. More than likely it started developing 2-4 years prior and eventually gets to the point where it becomes very uncomfortable to throw.

The so-called "experts" say it all starts with limiting pitches in High School and Travel ball, if not much younger. However, that topic of debate deserves it own thread......

I've been coaching youth baseball for 13 years and I've seen so much crazy stuff. Some of the best pitchers will pitch for multiple teams like a hired gun. I saw a 12 y/o pitch for 3 teams in the same weekend. I saw a 9-year-old throw 117 pitches in a game. Triple digit pitches are nothing. My team won a Middle School game once because the coach totally ignored the pitching rules. The parents and umpires had no idea. I was the only person there who knew the kid's pitch count. It was pitiful. Coaches don't care because they just want to win. Parents don't care because the want "exposure". It's so stupid.

Blade’s was not Something new. If you go back and look he really did not pitch at all this fall because it did not feel good. Hoping that he is able to come back at the end of the season.
