The kids love the Blk on Blk who cares what the fans like. Recruits went crazy when Lane did that. Also the smokey grays are a player favorite too. Kids love variations and right now UT has to use everything they can to get the Big Dawgs on board.
Gawga, Bama, LSU, ain't doing it. They stick with tradition and that tradition is winning. Go Big Orange !!!

An article June 18th stated UT wanted to wear black jerseys for the UK game(and for the Volnation sticklers I assumed it was for Arkansas for the Halloween game pre Covid and was clearly in the wrong). I trust DeerPark12 100%, so won't go against what he or she says. Just from my own perspective it doesn't take 4 months to make a team jerseys, pandemic or not. Something I assume changed since that article back almost 4 months ago.

I was there when they wore them vs South Carolina, the entire stadium went crazy when them came out of the tunnel in them! I hope they bring them back.

Yeah the stadium went crazy, but the locker room was even more crazy. Man those players lost their minds. All you kept hearing is man we're wearing blk on blk for the 1st time these are so sweet. I still talk to M. Teague, Eric Gordon, and several guys who still say that the moment they were given those unis it gv them some kind of energy to go out and run through a wall that night.

I also personally think a black helmet with an orange power T, black jersey with orange numerals, and either black pants with orange stripes or vice versa would be sharp on the promise it would only happen either when Halloween falls on a Saturday or once every 5 years or so. At least personally like it more than I do Smokey Gray. I also was given a black Peyton Manning jersey back in the 90's when I was in high school, it's been in my closet since that South Carolina game. I want to wear it again sooner rather than later. If it helps beat the Gators who freakin' cares.

Georgia and LSU do it. Research their color combos. They both wear it all. Bama doesn't but they're Bama. Also for the record no need to reference what anyone else does because we were never all meant to be the same. You have to do what's good and works for you. Those blk or smokey Grey aren't hurting anyone and kids love em. The ability to be different is what make zoregon who they are and getting elite prospects. Whereas Bama is a contender yearly and only has a few color combos of basic crimson/ wht. We're a lot closer to Oregon than Bama so we hv to be creative to get where we want to be.

Personally I think the black jersey thing is played out. Everyone has done it. Everyone went crazy in 2009, because it was 2009. I’d really like to see a throwback like we did vs UNLV in ‘04 as a nod to Condredge Holloway as the first black quarterback in the SEC and auction those towards a minority group of our choosing . That’s just me though .

They definitely ran through South Carolina. Makes you wonder where we would be right now if Kiffin never left for southern Cal.

Georgia just wore some throwbacks and have tried there hand at looking like a power ranger before, and LSU has always had alternatives. I don’t think you actually know what you’re talking about.

Black Unis will look great, will help with recruiting, because Tennessee will keep a few to use for photo shoots etc like they did the Smokey Grays. You guys need to get off your High horse and get on the Recruiting Train.

Our wins will speak for themselves, but our Wins coupled with our “Tradition” and addition of unique jersey’s will also help in the recruiting game. So why not take advantage?

That would be like not investing in something you know is a sure thing..... I mean imagine if we not only wear those but Win in them. That’s even more recruiting power.

In my opinion we need to go back to the old school, early in Johnny majors tenure, unis with the stripes on the shoulders. Those would look better now than back then. I’d also wear orange pants home and away. Gray unis and black unis suck. Throwbacks are the way to go.

Even Bama wears white helmets every now and again, maybe before some of our present day VN posters became sentient.

As long as we’re winning I guess I don’t really care. But if I had to choose let’s stick to a combo of orange and white. I saw a couple of minutes of the Memphis SMU game (had very little interest in the game hence the couple of minutes) and Memphis had on the most hideous uniforms I’ve ever seen. I THINK they were black and white. I thought their colors were blue and gray? Took me a minute or so to figure out who they were. I hope the Vols never wear something were the team is not recognizable!

One cool idea:

On the 150th anniversary of Volunteer football (so, the 2041 season, i think?), we wear a different historic uniform in every game.

There are 14 uniforms in this poster. With some luck, we'll be playing at least 14 games that year.

There are 4 uniforms here with white jerseys...we'll probably have about 4 away games. So we can use those then.

Working around the whites/away games, we just go in historic order. It could go something like this:

Game 1, vs. Penn State -- 1903 uniform
Game 2, vs. App State -- 1914 uniform
Game 3, at Florida -- 1892 uniform
Game 4, vs Mizzou -- 1925 uniform
Game 5, at Kentucky -- 1971 uniform
Game 6, vs Georgia -- 1938 uniform
and so on...

What do you think? I kind of love this idea. I'm usually not much on worrying over uniforms, I don't care much what the lads come out wearing as long as it has orange in it, but I kind of really like this idea a lot.

Go Vols!
