Black Uniforms vs Ole Miss?

To those of you arguing against changing up our uniforms from the standard O&W, citing "tradition tradition." My view on the matter is this, Tennessee abandoned tradition a long time ago when they decided to no longer take winning here seriously. If we're getting our asses kicked week in and week out, we don't look like traditional Tennessee regardless of whether we are wearing O&W, black, grey, or purple. Until we fix winning first, I see no point whatsoever in arguing over uniform colors. It's completely arbitrary compared to the real issue at hand.
I’m arguing that black jerseys were cool….In 2009.
Now, it’s the most played out jersey gimmick in sports. Everyone has done it. It’s lazy and something that the previous staff came up with. There are plenty of ways to do good alternate uniforms that I think a lot people would be receptive to.

But the players who are here NOW had nothing to do with that 2009 season. Hell they were between 6 and 10 years old back then. So what may seem like something that's played out to us is not the case with the guys who actually wear the uniform now.

Did I get lost and wander into a Vandy forum? One month to find your kahunas Boys, get to searching!
Kahuna (“kuh-who-nuh”) is a Hawaiian word. It means an indigenous religious leader or expert in a subject matter. Kahuna got associated with surfing thanks to the US 1959 movie Gidget, and the rash of beach party movies that followed in its wake.

Similar words from other languages include shaman and guru, Their actual meanings are religious or specialized knowledge to aid their cultures, and they’ve been trivialized in pop culture.

Cojones (“kuh-hoh-nayz”) is a Spanish word. It is a euphemism for testicles, and it’s used similarly to the English “balls.”

Balls is used to hint at bravery, courage, gutsiness, or fearlessness. Truthfully you don’t have to have a certain set of genitals to exhibit bravery, but the euphemisms and the sayings persist in multiple languages

I guess . Just seems like something thrown together last year at the advice of Nieds and Pruitt for good political standing in the community. At least the Smoky Grays were creative and had some thought out into them. These are just black jerseys with orange #s that are the same as the other unis.

My biggest issue with black uniforms is I don't want them somehow becoming the main uniform. I know some will say no way that will ever happen here but it's happened at other places. Personally I think under Butch Jones he seemed to somewhat trying to slowly make the Smokey Greys the "main" look, evidenced by how the coaching shirts were more and more Smokey Grey. Also I think it opens up to us having way too many alts. Oklahoma St. is a good example to me; they used to have a very recognizable look back in the Barry Sanders era: white helmets with the OSU logo, home orange and road white jerseys, and orange pants and white pants. And at one point they introduced black jerseys and for a while it was pretty much their main look and now they have a ton of different uniforms.

Thought our colors were orange, white, smokey gray and light blue. Where's the black come from? Hate black uniforms.
I'd rather stick with smokey gray for alts. But if they're gonna do black, at least make the helmet match.

At this point in honestly fine with just the 4 combination with can get with orange/white jerseys and pants, as long as the black cleats and number outline goes away.

Just bring'em back! The subdued mountains on the helmet were legit. I am a traditionalist in some sense, but sometimes you got to grow with the times.

When they came back out in the black, that was cool. I liked the the grey with the traditional helmet, but there wasn’t anything wrong with gray helmet. We should always wear orange pants on the road and for home SEC games.

I liked it when we checkered Neyland too.

The black uniforms with white helmets looks like crap.

Smokey Greys are so much better in every single way.

Any update or reveal of those black unis advertised on Alumni Hall a while back? It seems odd to not have some publicity if we’re actually going to wear them this season.
