just heard his interview with Kesling on the radio and if anything else, this kid sounds really intelligent. he's got the sound of a good QB and sounds like he knows how to carry himself. hope we see a lot more of BJ in the future

The kid definitely has his head on straight and speaks with confidence, not arrogance. He has the most potential out of any of the QB's already on the roster.

Well they said all along that he picked up the Crawl-fense quicker than the other two, but you know those damn mechanics and fundamentals....*sigh*

He went to Mccallie which is Ted Turner's old school. I went to Notre Dame down the street (years earlier). It's an all-boys private school with high academic standards.

Didn't they say during some SEC broadcasts that the team responded to him better than the other guys? I think he has better leadership skills than Crompton and Stephens.

If he has the confidence of the team, I hope he can put the physical game with the mental game and take the starting spot.

he definitely has better game managing skills and accuracy than stephens and crompton, you could tell from the Vandy game the team responded differently to him in a better way, I say he's your starter come september

He has the skills and the smarts to be a solid QB at UT. He just needs to adjust to the new schemes and get his fundamentals down and UT will be OK at QB for the next few years.

I would think he is the QB that Kiffin is looking to for next year and then hit it hard in recruiting a QB out of the 2010 Class. BJ is intelligent and fully capable of handling the pressure at QB. He will need some adjustment to the new way of doing buisness and schemes of the offense but for the most part he will get the job done. Only question I have is his arm strength but I am sure that Kiffin has a plan. My grandson played BB and FB with him at McCallie and says he is one of those special athletics that will surprise you when given a the opportunity.

Coach Cut thought very highly of BJ too. If Cut were around last season BJ may have very well been the full time starter from the start of the season.

I chuckle at Coleman being our starter. I hope Stephens blows up in the spring.

So do I. I've known BJ for years and seeing some of these people's comments makes me realize how wrong some of our speculations truly are. He is a really smart hard working kid, but he just doesn't have the natural athletic ability or arm to be a stud in the SEC. I've been watching him play since he was a freshman at McCallie. No matter how bad some on this board want it, he just doesn't have the whole package. At his max potential we are a 7-5 team at best. He might end up being the best of the 3 but I really hope that isn't the case, because if it is we are going to be dissapointed next season.

I chuckle when I read yor comments, because Coach Cut knows QB's, and he recruited BJ when he was an unknown. Nothing personal but unless your full time job is that of a professional QB scout, I'll stick with Cut's assessment of BJ.

Well I chuckle at the Cut's assessment. I wonder why he threw the pick six against Vandy. I thought his strengths would be smarts and accuracy but that was in the top 5 of our dumbest throws this year and that's saying something.

Let's go with one throw against the opinion of one of the best QB coaches in the country.

I'm not saying BJ is the answer, but it's hard to say one bad game against Vandy makes him DEFINITELY not the answer.

CLK can help with fundamentals and footwork. Decision making comes with experience. You can't teach leadership and poise. BJ should be the starting qb once the season begins. Stephens is the most fundamentally sound so he has a shot. Crompton is an idiot. All braun, no brains.

I'm not seeing anything I like out of Coleman. I would like to see what Stephens can do in this offense. He showed pretty good poise, arm strength, and pocket presence in the worst offensive scheme in the Fulmer era.

BJ seems like he could develop into something good if he would work on his mechanics and really focus on his weaknesses. He seems like a solid player all around.

Stephens lack of poise is exactly the reason he didn't remain as a starter.

Did you watch him play in the Georgia and Bama games? I think we have a chance at winning those games with somewhat of a running game. And also if we have Moore running that post route instead of Rogers against Bama.

I chuckle again, and again. If you think that you can judge a QB on one throw then this discussion is irrelevant.

I recall the play you are referring to and the WR ran a down and out, didn't square off his route properly, and BJ threw the pass to a spot on the field where the WR was should have been, but he wasn't, and we all know the result. A pic six.

I am not saying BJ is savior at QB, but Cut was very high on him, and his reputation speaks for itself when it comes to QB's. Cut could be wrong, and you could be the genius that you think you, but I doubt it.

Has Cut ever really found a diamond in the rough QB? I mean, it wasn't like the Mannings doing well was a shocker. Tee Martin was highly rated, as was Heath Shuler. Every QB he had at Ole Miss other than Eli was horrible.
