BJ Coleman (Merged)

Bj was a sacrificial lamb. With our starter being a senior and our back up being a limited experienced junior it will be easy to sell to 2 top Qb's for 2010. I think we land Heaps and another top Qb, possibly Scroggins.

That hasn't happened yet. There is 1 QB in rivals top 10 pro style QB's interested in UT, and he's in Washington State. He's likely to go somewhere closer to home IMO. He was interested in Taj Boyd who was the top running QB in last season's class and committed to UT.

If Coleman doesn't think he was treated fairly by the coaching staff why shouldn't he come out and say it? He's just being honest about his feelings and why he left. Obviously he wasn't happy and he's explaining why. From what he described, can anyone blame him for leaving?

Not at all. Anyone of us would do the same thing given what he explained. I guess the coaches did what they felt was right for them (hope it does not come back to bite us) and BJ in turn did what he needed to do. I can't blame him at all.

The top QB has already committed and the other one isn't considering UT.

he was 2 star as a high school senior.

Colt McCoy and Sam Bradford were 3 stars and JC was a 4 star, so I don't really put much credence in star ratings. But, I don't really think he'll be able to contribute that much.

How much did you have to drink untill you replied to my post? Heaps was the Qb that I was talking about and I mentioned him by name. He has us in his top 5, he may go to washington but we are still in it. He was interested in Taj boyd? Tajh Boyd and WTF is he? I'm lost........

Just because they're committed to another school, or not considering us as of now, doesn't meant they're out of the picture for us. i.e. Nuke, Teague, BB

neither of the top 2 QB's on rivals are interested in UT. Heaps is the 5th ranked player on that list: 2010 College Football Quarterback: Quick List

Taj Boyd was the 4th ranked QB last season, and was already committed to coming to UT, and after Kiffin was named head coach, he met with him and decommitted because Kiffin was interested in a running QB and didn't want him to come to UT and be unhappy.

So Jake Heaps is interested in Tajh Boyd? How does his girlfriend feel about this?

IMO Coleman came into the meeting with Kiffin with the mindset that either Kiffin was going to name him starter or if not he would transfer. Obviously Kiffin didn''t tell him what he wanted to hear. Wish he would of had a shot, but wish the best of luck to him. Kiffin knows what he is doing.

I wish we would have kept Tajh Boyd myself, but once again you are looking at Rivals, I was looking at Scout.

Coleman talks as if he clearly, without a doubt, should have been the number 1 QB, and he showed it and played like it every day, no ifs, ands, or buts. He said he wasnt given a fair shake, but what is a fair shake to him? In the interview it sounds to me like anything short of being named the starter means he wasnt given a fair shake. And then to throw the whole coaching staff under the bus...implying that they dont care as much because they are not from Tennessee and dont know the history...he makes himself sound like he is the unquestioned leader of the team, and everyone knew it.

That interview says a lot to me about the situation...Coleman wasnt happy not being the man, so he bolted...yet he thinks he's a leader...a leader does not leave when things dont go as expected.

...and as far as next year goes, it has been said time and again that Boyd will probably not be able to play next year because of a knee surgery. He would not have been able to help us.

That's exactly what I thought after listening to it, but I wish him the best of luck.

Thats an awful lot of time from ACL surgery till return. I do not know the expectancy but I think it is possible. Didnt the Oregon QB pull it off?

It is probably possible, but he will virtually get no practice time before the season (new system) and he'll probably have to get himself back into shape.

Man but didn't he look good throwing stikes in the Army All American game with that torn ACL?

2010 season he could have helped us. Esp. with Coleman gone and Crompton graduating.
