Even if Kiffin gets Heaps (not many other uncommitted elite QBs left for the shallow 2010 class), Kiffin may not last to see Heaps' sophomore year. Our SEC schedule (not to mention Oregon coming to town) in 2010 is BRUTAL, even for an experienced SEC-level signal caller.
2009 will be a rebuilding year, but if there is not significant progress in 2010, bye bye Lane. Also, it's no guarantee that Kiffin will even sign a top-flight QB this year. If that is the case, then our rebuilding will continue for several years because we'll have a new coach. Gruden in 2010!!!

Kiffin is going to bring the run game back into the SEC big time...no greatness is needed at the QB position in his game plan.
No it's not. Who thought Kentucky's hoops coach would be gone so soon?
In the SEC, it's all about winning and winning now. My guess is Kiffin will get a one-year grace period (losing season or 6-6 would probably be okay to most), after which he will be held to the same standard as any other head coach of a top SEC team. With the salary he and the assistant coaches are pulling in the aggregate, the program should expect to see significant improvement by year 2. My point is that Kiffin is making a risky bet that he will pull in "his" QB in this class. If he doesn't get a top QB this year, one of the requisite pieces for his rebuilding projection will be missing at least until 2011, at which point it might be a moot point.

I'd rather have BJ too but the slightly better arm is a understatement and not debatable. I've been to some of the practices and most the scrimmages and of course watched the Vandy game last year and he just doesnt have that zip on the ball. He floats alot of passes and cant pass into small windows. I would rather have a guy who knows the offense better but I was at no point anywhere near sold on Coleman.I just really don't understand how he won't be the guy?? And this is the proof why I'm not a coach.....but i totally agree, I would much rather have a guy like BJ who is a leader and smart, than a brickhead who has a slightly better arm (and that is really debatable).
If, Kiffin didn't meet with BJ both times he was suppose to meet with him. Kiffin made a huge mistage.
