How are any of those people more qualified than Dooley? Dooley was a Saban assistant for 7 years and an NFL assistant. How was Muschamp more qualified? I think the naysayers here need to brush up on his Dooley's history. They are looking at his head coaching and record at LA Tech and that's it.

Well you were in Love with Lame..where did that get you?????

I was never in love with Lame, what are you 20? I enjoyed the enthusiasm Kiff brought to the program and his brashness after living 16 yrs under the Grimace Fulmer umbrella.

I have followed the Vols for 40 yrs (since I was 8) and this hire has me to the point where I am ready to say I am finished. For 40 yrs I have supported this team, thru the good and the bad. Attending games and watching games where I felt like my heart was going to beat out of my chest from the love and passion I felt for the players and team.

The new coach seems like a man of character but not a man who can rebuild this once proud program and restore it to its days of glory on the gridiron. I hope I am proven wrong but for now I am going to continue to support the BB program and the football program is dead to me until I see some form of life going in the right direction. The presser did nothing but confirm what I already suspected: rush hire and he will fail, fire Hamilton, the only good thing he has done is firing Fulmer and hiring Pearl. Our baseball program is now worse then what it was under Delmonico.

I like the fact that he actually said "britches" in his press conference. Kinda made me laugh.

This is a fail. And, Delmonico left the baseball team completely empty for the record....just wait and see what happens

This guy can recruit and coach. Motivate and lead. He is a real man in a man's world and just needed the opportunity to show what he and a staff a team to do.

Kif was a VW Dooley is a Royal Royce.
Kif a boy DD is a man
The SEC is for real men. Not boys.

:good!:

Excellent hire! The doubters will become believers. It'll take two or three seasons to get UT all the way back, but Dooley has what it takes to do it.

The only one who "wants" it? are you sure? There were plenty out there that wanted it:

Kippy Brown
Jim Cheney
Kirby Smart - was not even approached, turned down DC for GA because he wanted to be a HC.
There are plenty of coaches but Hamilton wanted to do it quickly so we got a lame hire.

I said it once and I will say it again, rush hire and Hamilton needs to be fired and Fulmer does not need to be the next AD.
if haslam went with hamilton on the pilot jet, i think all is square for the ad.
people are disappointed it isn't a flash name to "keep" recruits and really get back at the kiffin group. not a hamilton fan in the least (reminds me of the bad guy in happy gilmore that looks like a weasel), but he wasn't going to do anything without direction.

keeping some staff (esp. kippy/lt) will benefit.

Dooley is at the very least well-educated and has ties in the area.

you say you are done with football, so why don't you leave the board?
i am actually surprised at the support dooley has received to this point.

Good Southern preppy boy, pedigree and all. Not surprising that many are converted. He will probably do well with the fans here...unless he loses. The one time we go out of the SEC mold and we get hosed so we go get comfy with the southern gentleman again. We had a chance to make another statement, but we chose comfort food.
