Bin Laden to issue video as 9/11 anniversary approaches - CNN.com

"Soon, God willing, video message by the Lion Sheik Osama bin laden, may God protect him," the ad says in Arabic script translated by CNN's senior editor for Arab affairs Octavia Nasr.
The terrorist watch group IntelCenter said it expected the video to be released within 72 hours.
It would come just days before the sixth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks -- planned and executed by al Qaeda.
The As Sahab ad includes a photograph of bin Laden with a completely black beard, although it was most recently seen streaked with gray.

Thoughts?

But evidently people would be less mad about US troops dying in Pakistan that they are about them dying in Iraq.

This crap has gone on since the founding of the country. If you really want to hear disheartening stuff, read what our politicians had to say during our Civil War.

You'd think. Especially since the guy actually responsible for the group attacking the US is still at large, recruiting, and making videos taunting us. All the whining about how Clinton never got him and we've been 'actively' pursuing a mass murderer for 6 years since 9/11.

Better yet, the stuff said by members of the Continental Congress and state assemblies during the American Revolution.

Yep. Both sides have historically served up some strong kool aid. Hopefully more people are choosing bottled water now.

I wish Bubba was back as emporer!

I do too. He would win in a landslide if he could run again.

Funny thing is, the mess in Bosnia was much like it is in Iraq. there were three major factions there...and a plan was developed and followed. All three got a piece of the pie, so to speak, and most importantly, benchmarks were met by their gonvernment. There was terrible bloody loss there of course and it was a civil war much more violent from a military standpoint than the sectarian violence in Iraq. Competence means a lot in these matters and it all starts at the top. You can rightly question Bill's character, but he knew what the f*** he was doing, unlike W.

I love the whole Constitutional debate that was actually fought within the media. Both sides bought up newspapers and many wrote anonymous editorials attacking the other.

But even before that and during the war, there were many ready to pack it up and push for a peace with conditions with the Brits. If George wasn't so stubborn there could have been one.

CS: Do you feel the founding fathers were "divinely inspired" or elitist aristocrats serving their self interests?

They were the right people at the right place at the right time. George III was stubborn and caused his own problems. The colonists had enough slack on the leash to provoke the matter. As far as ideas, most of what they quoted and used was recycled from the philosophers at that time or within that last century. This started off a completely MA affair. Those in dissent elsewhere jumped on board but most of the actual people were not really willing to break with the crown.

Just as the attitude of elitist aristocrats controlled the South's mentality during the Civil War, those in power and influence really steered opinion of the rest of the population during the revolution. It was the same attitude carried over from England. A small gentry class surrounding by the common man - the 'commoners' relied on the gentry to guide them in events.

Nice, I have never seen it put that simple.
