Bill Snyder/Phil Fulmer comparison

150 wins vs. 50 losses, National Championship, 2 SEC Championships. Probably more qualified than any other candidate we have a shot at

The last 5 or 6 years we were nationally irrelevant. Thats why he was fired in the first place.

The CPF people are the same ones that absolutely run the 98 championship team into the ground. They act like recruits who are 17 or 18 years old should be amazed by the 98 team.. They were like 4 years old and they are being recruited by teams that have won multiple championships in thier life time. Let the CPF stuff go , he's not coming back even if he wanted to.

Sure and you were one heck of a QB. NOT.

Yeah but I bet average is better then were we are now....

Look I just want ... Us to be where Ga ,USCjr, Fla , Stanford are

We need someone who can get us back and loves Knoxville

Why do they always have to love Knoxville? I think everyone is so scared a lane kiffin type deal with him leaving will happen again that they would take a local ties guy over a better coach from somewhere else.

He knows what cost him the Job bet he has learned from the mistake

 I'm not saying that Hart needs to bring Fulmer back, but if he'd hired a decent OC instead of Clawson, our last four seasons would have looked much different than what we've seen.

If Hart cannot get what some are calling a "Home Run" hire, why not bring Fulmer back as interim HC, with a two-year limit (depending on performance), $2M salary, enough $$$ to get a great assistant coaching staff, and no buyout $$$. I'd rather see Fulmer get $2M than see it go to another "up-and-comer" like Dooley.

Again, before I get flamed too badly, I'm not advocating that Hart bring Fulmer back as permanent HC, but maybe as a fallback option if he cannot get a proven HC "Home Run" hire at this time. Our football program needs some stability, and this might, or might not, be the answer.

I got tired of Fulmer also and at the time thought he had served us well and it was time to move on. I will say though if I had to choose between him and some of the names that keep popping up I would take Fulmer over those.

Your last sentence is what I was referring to - if Hart cannot produce the right hire with the coaching talent that is available at this time. For purposes of stability, we do need to get at least an interim HC reasonably soon for recruiting purposes. Again, I wasn't advocating hiring Fulmer permanently, but as an interim, he would be much better than many of the names that have been brewing out of the rumor teapot.

Do people realize that Snyder wins at K-State because he's essentially a control freak that doesn't get the best talent and his assistants (most of which are or were big time coaches Bielema, the Stoops, Mark Mangino, etc) happened to be good administrative hires by Snyder. Fulmer nor UT are of that same profile nor will they ever be? I get tired of hearing the comparison because it's not relevant to our situation at all. Snyder supposedly eats one meal a day and has no life and that's why K-State wins. Need I bring up Phil?

Fulmer was fired and Snyder was not fired.......

Still has his house (and family) back in Knoxville.....

Hell, everyone has a home in Knoxville. Didn't you know that.

Even Gino at U Conn has a home in Knoxville. Maybe he will take Pat's job.

Urban Crier has a home in Knoxville. Steve Spurrier has a home in Knoxville. Also, President Obama has a home in Knoxville.

Hank Jr. has a home in Montana, I heard he may be the next governor in Montana.....

Loyalty- feeling of duty: a feeling of devotion, duty, or attachment to somebody or something ( often used in the plural )

I myself feel like this is the one thing that has been missing from this program for about 4 years now.

Unfortunately, I agree with you. We could do much worse than Coach Fulmer. Think back of all the coaches that had long tenures they all had ups and downs. If we had been patient in '08 we would not be in this shape today. With all the administration information that is coming to light it appears our coach had a lot of issues he was battling besides football.

I'll never fully understand the reason for wanting to bring back Fulmer. Why? So we can be right back where we were at square one in 2008?

It's like some people forget the main reason we got rid of him in the first place.[/QU Your preaching mostly to the choir! Besides, Snyder built their program. That's most of the reason they brought him back. Fulmer inherited his and ran it into the ground. That's why he's gone!

I agree with you, Nancy. Pipe down, I was just making a joke. Phil's not coming back - the coaching talent in the league has been upgraded significantly since the late 90's.

We fired a guy with 150-50 record coz we thought we could be like Bama and Florida ..11-1 teams every year type..turns out without him KY and Vandy beat our arses regularily..so lets go back to 2007..10-3 record..playing in SEC and yeah some defense..

He was getting consistently owned by the upper tier of the SEC towards the end of his tenure.

Saban, Miles, Meyer, and Spurrier all had his number.
Ah, the good old days of only losing to the good teams and coaches.
