Bill Haslam on Butch Jones

Assuming he's involved in the conversation, it'd be fairly inappropriate for a GOVERNOR to publicly say a college football coach should be fired. Bill's above that.

I think Butch has been told and now he's falling apart

even if he hasn't been "told"... he HAS to know he's in the hot seat... plus there has been a lot of non-UT specific media reporting it as well. UT has become a laughing stock in football since the trashcan, then the Florida loss, then the UMass barely victory, and now the helmet and fake news comments.

not sure how many straws he has left... but he's certainly decreased them from a year ago

Butch is done, baring a miracle run through the rest of the schedule

I thought his unhinged reaction at Mondays presser was indicative of a change in his situation. I feel like that's more likely than ever. I think an ultimatum has been given. Just my opinion...or maybe my hope.

The Haslams.

Is there a family that spends more on football and gets less in results. Doubtful

I would bet to say that haslams are about tired of investing in a bad egg.. millions of $ later.. nothing but a bunch of cheesy cliche's and a championship of life trophy ..

Doesn't sound like a ringing endorsement. If he was excited about where things are, he would have said more. Good political comment to not really say anything.

Sounds more like "Dudes bad for business, cant build a top program and he's had his shot...but don't get me wrong, I love the guy." to me. Ouch statement from a politician.

Sounds like Haslam isn't just looking at the won/loss record right now. He wouldn't have mentioned the others issues if that wasn't a factor. If they fire him now, it will appear that those things aren't important and no politician wants that appearence.

Doesn't Haslam know we're 18-5 the last 23 games? What's wrong with that guy?

YOU cant avoid liking BUTCH as a person and he has run a clean program- not thugs like Kiffin had. He also has a lot of Les Miles in him ( being stubborn ) and this may be his doom. If I had made as many questionable calls in close games , I would accept the fact that I dont do well under extreme pressure and seek out advice from other coaches. This he will never do . His days are numbered at this point because of the way he has lost many of these very winnable games and his corny quotes dont help. Learn to say "no comment" That is often the best policy or admit yr shortcomings. Less Baloney please.

The Haslams are main reason for TN downfall imo.

And CBJ would be a great special team coach or academic advisor imo

Wait a minute....
As an Academic Advisor for 16 years and a supervisor of Academic Advisors presently, I'm not so sure about that.

Maybe, but I would not make that statement definitively.

Q: Back to Tennessee football, what do you think of that program, where it is and the job Butch Jones is doing?

A: "And I think there’s probably nobody more frustrated with the last four years than coach Jones. And I don't think he understands how important it is that Tennessee be a top-ranked program.”
Sorry Guvner, had to fix your post :ermm:
