Biggest "What if" moments in Tennessee History

I know this was mentioned early but I'll add something to it... what if Cutclliffe stays instead of going to Ole Miss? Do we get Eli too?

What if (the first game I went to which happened to be Johnny Majors first sec game back from heart surgery) 92 Arkansas game that Arkansas didn't return that kick for a TD and we would not have lost by one point? Would he have kept his job?

What if Greg Burke had hit FGs at the end of the 1990 Auburn game and the end of the 1990 Alabama game? We're likely playing Virginia in the 1991 Sugar Bowl for a share of the national title and Phillip Fulmer doesn't get a shot at the head coaching job until at least the mid 90s if ever.

What if we would have offered Patrick Willis a scholly???
He wanted to be a vol.
What if we didnt drop the ball on that one?

:dunno:

:shakehead:

Were Alabama and Auburn our only losses that year? I know we tied CU.

You think we would have passed CU and split with Tech?

Okay, i haven't read any of this thread so please don't knock me for repeats. I know some of the ones below aren't as signifigant as others but my mind was full of these as soon as I read the title of this thread? I hope you enjoy.

What if the student body had chosen the color green instead of orange?

What if Tony Robinson had not been hurt against Bama during the 85 season?

What if Hammy hadn't pulled the trigger on firing Fulmer?

What if Peyton had chosen Ole Miss or LSU?

What if the refs had given us the ball deep in Arkansas territory instead of calling a safety whenever their punter kicked the ball out of the back of the endzone in the 98 game?

What if we hadn't been flagged for roughing the passer on the play where we ran one back for 6 in the 06 Fla game?

What if Fulmer would have just said, "Take a knee", on the last play of the 1st half of the 04 ND game?

What if Butch Davis or Mike Leach would have gotten the nod instead of Kiffin?

What if we hadn't ran the blocked fieldgoal back for a td at the end of the 1st half of the 91 ND game?

What if Peyton's record against Fla was 4-0?

What if our defense knew what everyone else in the stadium & those watching the game on television seemed to all know (that Palmer was going to run the ball around the end), before Bama's two point conversion try near the end of the 93?

What if Leonard Little hadn't stripped the UCLA player of the ball at the end of the 97 UT/UCLA game?

What if the Memphis player, who made the impossible play where he managed to keep from touching the ground on the return for 6, had been sick and on the sidelines during the 96 UT/Memphis game?

What if the announcer had said "and the recipient of this year's Heisman Trophy is......from the University of Tennessee, Peyton Manning"?

What if Johnny, Carl, Heath, and Peyton all won heisman trophies?

What if Smokey was actually a green hornet named "Stinger"?

What if Tim Tebow was a Vol?

What if we had beaten UCLA, Auburn, & Wyoming? Afterall we lost to UCLA by 3, Auburn by 2, & Wyoming by 6. We just as easily could have won those games as lost them. How does 8-4, a Peach Bowl appearance, and a contract extension for Phil sound to you?

What if Jamal had chosen Georgia and Jasper Sanks had chosen UT?

What if Eric Berry had chosen Georgia?

What if the referee had called a double unsportsmanlike conduct instead of just flagging the Fla player in the 04 game?

What if Wilhoit would have shanked the fieldgoal at the end of the 04 Fla game?

What if Wilhoit would have made the extra point near the end of the 04 Fla game?

What if Paul "Bear" Bryant would have walked our sidelines instead of Bama's?

What if General Robert Neyland coached the crimson tide instead of in Knoxville?

What if Vandy had a 100,000 seat stadium and we had their stands?

What if we didn't block the fieldgoal in overtime against UK in 07?

What if Kentucky currently had a 24 game winning streak against us?

What if Pat Summit was never offered the job to coach our Lady Vols?

What if we were known as a basketball school instead of a football school?

What if Fulmer had chosen to play for Vandy instead of UT?

What if Chris Simms would have stuck to his commitment?

What if Hatvol's avatar was a picture of Trooper Taylor, with the words, "Should be a Vol, Should be our offensive coordinator", across the top? JK Hat! I couldn't help myself.

What if I just quit right here? :clapping:

What if the Memphis kick returner was called down by contact (which he was due to the fact his elbow hit the turf). Do the Manning led Volunteers play for the title? What if a frog had a .45, would he be scared of snakes?

What if Travis Cozart had not been arrested in 1995? Him and Jay Graham together in the same backfield. We probably would have been Nebraska's victim in the Fiesta Bowl instead of Florida.

Even more than that, what if Chuck Webb hadn't blown his knee out against Pacific earlier in that season, and the Vols had had him for both of those games.

What if Peyton had chose Ole Miss?
What if Goodrich doesn't step in front of Outzen's pass?
What if you weren't a UT fan? I know makes my stomach turn too
What if we didn't have Volnation?

We still had a tie with Colorado and a narrow loss to Notre Dame, but we would have surely stayed ahead of Ga Tech in the rankings. I think we were as high as 3 or 4 until that screwy loss to Alabama. A split national title between us and Colorado would have been highly possible.

what if peyton throws to a wide open james stewart, like he was supposed to, instead of nilo silvan at the end of the '94 bama game.
