Biggest Villian in modern Tennessee football history

Exactly! Danny White has been our best AD since Doug Dickey and honestly he’s better than Dickey was cause every sport now is really in great shape. Fulmer should’ve never been made AD that set us back a few years but the job that Danny and Heupel has done in such a short time to bring UT football back to relevancy is simply remarkable.
Not just football. Danny White has made good moves in all sports and has been ahead of the curve on most of the craziness of the changes in college athletics.

Jimmy obviously did a heckuva lot for UT and I think loves the school but he was a good ol boy with Fulmer, who also loves the school but was never qualified to be an AD. The good ol boy era is over. We need professionals to navigate what college athletics has become.

1. Kiffin
2.Fulmer
3. Mike Hamilton
4. Pruitt
5. Saban
6. Butch
7. Nico
For me personally it’s always been Kiffin his leaving in the midnight hour after just one season kick started a series of chain reactions of terrible decisions and coaching hires. Which pretty much nuked our football program into the wasteland of irrelevancy for a decade plus. So yea Kiffin will always be numero uno of the legion of doom villains to UT football.

Saban doesn’t even register. It’s not like we were one win away from greatness for 15 years and just couldn’t get past Saban.

The unique thing about our ineptitude is that it spanned across many different administrations, so there were a ton of different fingers in the blame pie.
I’m more pissed that we lost to him in Atlanta in 2001 than the years we didn’t even belong on the field w/ Bama while he was there.

Jimmy and Bill allowed Fulmer to handpick his AD. Hamilton gave Fulmer the ridiculous contract extension and ****ed up both the Kiffin and Dooley hires. This led to Fulmer eventually being allowed to pick Pruitt which means Davenport should be on this list too. Kiffin may have been the worst but he was a symptom of the disease and not the cause.
I'm quoting this and repeating what you said just so everyone can understand.

Fulmer picked Hamilton to be the Athletic Director that replaced Doug Dickey. Mike Hamilton only got the AD job because of Fulmer.

If any of y'all have any hate for Mike Hamilton, it's because Fulmer put him there. Another in the long line of Fulmer's bad personnel decisions.

I don’t know if he was the top villain, but Butch Jones should have been director of FEMA. He could evacuate 100,000 plus people out of a building in less than 15 minutes.

The quote button has existed since the website was created. I think all of the English reading members understand what I said. Knock yourself out.

I just wanted it said again instead of only in one post so it gets another chance of being seen. Perhaps not everyone is aware of the role Fulmer had in the hiring of Mike Hamilton 23 years ago.

Those damn bubble screens.
Those bubbles did suck, but he’s a good guy. I can’t put UT coaches on here who are/were good people, but just didn’t have the success we wanted. Now I have zero problem including the coaches from 2010-2020. I have a much bigger problem w/ them than I do Kiffin. I hate speaking ill of the dead, but Mike Hamilton really did a helluva # on our program too. He wasn’t ready for that job. And I think any list has to include Spurrier. Not only did he find a way to win in every possible way, he knew exactly what buttons to push, when to push them to antagonize us and he would work half as hard and get twice the results . They really had us mind F’d for a while.

I’m not mad at Randy Sanders lol. I live in JC and got to meet him a couple of times. I was just perplexed that he ended up on the list.

In the mid to late 2010's, I thought the fanbase was it's own worse enemy. The toxicity was at an all time high. It seemed like our program lost it's appeal to prospective coaches becuase of how rabid the fanbase was and the instant gratification mindset so many had. The pressure was intense as we were sick of losing to Bama and Florida 10+ years in a row. It got so bad that even mediocre ACC coaches were turning us down.

It took us getting to all time lows before we could be thankful when Heupel pulled us out the ditch. Thankfully now spirits are so much better!
That is how it should be remembered. Couldn’t agree more.
