For me personally it’s always been Kiffin his leaving in the midnight hour after just one season kick started a series of chain reactions of terrible decisions and coaching hires. Which pretty much nuked our football program into the wasteland of irrelevancy for a decade plus. So yea Kiffin will always be numero uno of the legion of doom villains to UT football.

Dooley and Spurrier how could i forget those two. Spurrier is maybe the biggest and oldest villain to UT. As a kid growing up in the 90’s watching Tennessee football man did i hate that guy he was such a prick and always jabbed us anytime he could. Hated losing to him and relished the times when we did beat his arrogant ass.

Fulmer,he got complacent and started the 20 year slide. He did well with Cutcliffe and Chavis but when Cut left it all unraveled. He hired the worst football coach in history..Pruitt.Also hired Kevin Steele for 10 days at around 86,000 dollars a day(anybody thinks Danny White would do that put your crack pipe down now!)

Fulmer ran the program into the ground not once but twice. He just about undid all the great things he did for Tennessee football as coach.

Jimmy and Bill allowed Fulmer to handpick his AD. Hamilton gave Fulmer the ridiculous contract extension and ****ed up both the Kiffin and Dooley hires. This led to Fulmer eventually being allowed to pick Pruitt which means Davenport should be on this list too. Kiffin may have been the worst but he was a symptom of the disease and not the cause.

Nico's dad is an idiot. That's a tough spot for a kid just like Boo's mom, zero sense, negatively impacting their kid's career, because they see $$$.

Hamilton destroyed UT football for a long time. He’s clearly number one. It’s kind of unfair to lump Fulmer in with the other guys on this list since he won the only NC during my lifetime. Some people aren’t cut out to be an AD. I’d take Fulmer off of this list personally. If you are going to name Fulmer, then why not Dickey?

Not villainous, but most damaging, is Jimmy.

His money let him have a hand on the tiller for quite awhile in bad hires and in keeping Fulmer at AD too long. Look at what Danny White has done in just a few years and you can see how bad Fulmer was as an AD. Without Jimmy's support, Fulmer is gone earlier.
Exactly! Danny White has been our best AD since Doug Dickey and honestly he’s better than Dickey was cause every sport now is really in great shape. Fulmer should’ve never been made AD that set us back a few years but the job that Danny and Heupel has done in such a short time to bring UT football back to relevancy is simply remarkable.

In the mid to late 2010's, I thought the fanbase was it's own worse enemy. The toxicity was at an all time high. It seemed like our program lost it's appeal to prospective coaches becuase of how rabid the fanbase was and the instant gratification mindset so many had. The pressure was intense as we were sick of losing to Bama and Florida 10+ years in a row. It got so bad that even mediocre ACC coaches were turning us down.

It took us getting to all time lows before we could be thankful when Heupel pulled us out the ditch. Thankfully now spirits are so much better!

Why is Fulmer on this list?

The damage he caused from 2008 to 2020 we gave him two big buyouts for driving the football program in the ditch twice, once as coach then AD. The man started the slide and decline of UT football post 2005 and wouldn’t ever go away and just enjoy the first 8 million dollar buyout we gave him to leave when we fired him in 2008. He couldn’t put his big ego aside for the betterment of the football program as coach and taking the AD position.
