Biggest Sleeper?

Alan Carson.... kid is a 2 star. Coaches raved about him at last all star game.

Justin Coleman and Brian Randolph who are both underated by rivals. I think both will be great players here.

Last but not least is Devrin Young. This kid has the heart of a lion. He will not let himself be anything but great.

The future looks better everyday IMO.... I love this class!

Young because our returns this year have absolutely sucked and we need a fast return man. He will honestly step in and be the biggest part (Special teams) that people can see a difference in.

Gotta agree, I am really hoping his explosiveness and highlight reel he had every Friday night can carry over to UT. With him being a local kid , many may think he can't get it done. I would love to see a kickoff or punt return for a touchdown, I can't even think of the last one we have had.

The first video I watched of him was the Track & Field video. I thought great speed but can he cut and make football moves? Then I watched a few Highlight films and think he can really help us out on Special Teams.

I'm still thinking. Tell me when you remember because I can't.

i believe it was mark jones vs vandy in 03 for punt return. brett smith vs s.c on a kick off in 04 but that was an onside kick.... too long thats for sure. i know we've had double digit returns for td's against us since then

AJ Johnson hands down. Watched him in Under Armor All American game. Kid reminds me of Leonard Little and Jerod Mayo. Quick on his feet but physical always in on the play. Im very excited about this kid and hope we can hold onto him into national signing day. I can see him sliding into a starting position as a freshman.

I don't care who returns it but that would be a great way to kick the season off. :loco:

He should be a good one but he isn't considered a "sleeper" in my book, I expect him to do well.

With the players we have given now who would you think is the biggest sleeper next year?

I personally like tom smith. I believe he fits dooleys style of play. He is a tough hard nosed runner that takes two to bring him down. Exceptional balance and given time in the weight room he will only get better.

Your thoughts?

:good!:
I agree Tom Smith could be a real productive kid for us. I live in Apopka and watched this kid play and he is one tough kid with decent speed and knows how to play the game. He has been exposed to outstanding coaching his entire career and kids like Sammy Smith, Warren Sapp, and many others from Apopka High School who played college and Pro ball came from this program. He will be good and could be great if he stays healthy.

Toney Williams

After his fumble in last years O&W game I haven't seen nor heard anything about him. His freshman spring O&W game he absolutely ran over the defense. He then tore his ACL and has yet to be heard of......Anyone have any info on this young man?

Mac Crowder and the downs kid from northeast tn. These kids grew up dreaming to play for the vols. Little stars with a blood flowing with orange beats any 4 and 5 star recruits with all the talent in world. They will give their all for tn i guarantee it

I'd rather have a Mangold than a Crowder, but that's just me.

I don't know who it will be on offense...though I wish we could get Milton game ready in the spring and have hunter and milton on the edges and rogers in the slot...So my wish would be for Matt milton to be the sleeper...but I haven't heard enough good about Milton so I will go with a safe pick and say Michael Rivera

I think Greg King's return will be huge for our LB core, but as for freshmen, I think Marcus Jackson may get a lot of playing time as a second stringer. But will be huge for depth reasons.

Tom Smith is going to be a the man. Ive watched this kid play, being from my are, for the last 2 years. Getting him into a college training system and he will pack on the muscle and speed.

Ive also been watching Dallas on his highlight tapes, and this kid has skills. Watchout!!!!

LOL at Devrin Young. Good chance he'll redshirt, and he'll never make an impact on offense. He could be a good returner, but it's a different animal in the SEC.

The sleeper people are going to say "Wow, what a great pickup!" is Jordan Williams. If he bulks up to 270 like he can, he MIGHT be able to get 10 sacks by his junior year. From the film I've seen, he's a nightmare.

Also, non freshman sleeper for next year, look out for Marsalis Teague. Kid has some serious talent.

Seeing a lot of highly rated recruits listed as potential sleepers. I have a hard time saying a four star recruit (which by the services definition is projected to be an all conference type player) is a sleep. They SHOULD be producing. I guess it could be argued at what point they should be producing.

I think of a sleeper as a suprise. My hope- one of the lower rated dts comes in and and help add some weight and meaningful snaps to the dline. Give some of the lighter guys up there some rest. Even if they are just solid space holders, some type of meaningful rotation could do wonders for the consistency of the run defense.
