Biggest prob firing Dooley now is?

I'm going to stick my neck out here and say I hope they give Dooley another year to get it going. Fix the D and special teams, plus get another recruiting class in, and we might be on our way. If not, then there's next year.

I don't want another coach to be here awhile then leave for a "better job." I want it to be someone who wants to be here for the long haul.

Dooley deserves one more year. Change defensice coordinatores again? I think not. They have had two in two years with different styles of defense...Players need some stability to perform...All this negativitism about coaches is certainly not good for the team. As a fan for too many years to count I have seen good and bad come and go. Dooley cleaned up a mess, probably kept us from NCAA problems, and put character back into the players. Let him fix the defensive mess we are in and coach one more year at least. A lot of the fans who are yelling for him to go never attended the university and are not Vols for life in the true sense of the term. The grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence....

The biggest problem with firing Dooley mid-season is who would take over as HC???

Chaney - HELL NO!!!...he's the biggest cause of the mess we are in already. IF Dooley stays this year, he MUST go.

Sal - NO way, no HC experience and he's already got his hands full

Jay G - Would probably do a decent job, but I wouldn't want him to be a "casualty of war", would really like to se him stick around even after Dooley. What he has done with Rajon, Marlin, and Devrin this year has been awesome!!!

So who does that leave...Coiner? Hinshaw?
Who do you think would be the best IHC on the staff?

You need to bye a book about football.

OK, let me clarify my satnce here...

1) I am NOT in favor of Dooley being let go mid-season...IMO it would the one WORST thing that Dave hart could do, and he knows that.

2) I am merely asking, knowing ALL of our coaches strenghs and weaknesses, who on this staff could or would do a decent job at HC and MIGHT be considered for HC (a-la Fulmer / Majors)

3) I do believe that game time management on the field is a product of position coaching, and until shown otherwise I place about 80% of Bray's last minute debacles on Chaney...sorry but I saw the same things happen wiht Brees at Purdue.

4) I do believe Dooley deserves to be back if we win out, including the bowl game...if we go 7-6 (either drop one in November or lose the bowl game) Hart needs to REALLY assess the situation.

Whether you agree with his playcalling or not...Chaney has all the qualifications to be an interim.

He'll coach out, with an interim coach for the bowl game... IF we go to a bowl and IF Dooley is let go. Nobody's going to much care who coaches against UCF in the Liberty Bowl.

Something to consider if allowing Dooley to coach out the season. What happens if this team quits AGAIN as they did at the end of last year? Do you think it will be harder to sign a coach when all the media is talking about a Tennessee team that quits VS a Vandy or UK AGAIN?

Well, I thought the plan was to fire after a new coach was in the wings. Dang, if no hire then let Dooley hang around until the one they want is hired.

there is NO guarantee we even MAKE a bowl game...DD is going to be fired on Monday effective the end of the season...we prob lose 1 maybe 2 more depending on what team shows up each week...but I still like our chances to finish 6-6 meaning we have to go 3-1 the rest of the way...is that too much of a hill to climb at this point???

You are so wrong about Chaney, He has done amazing things with Our Offense, we have scored enough points to win every game other than Alabama. So many times he even gives us a chance to win . Chaney is a very, very good Offensive mind, and you will see when he's gone just how good he was!

Disagree . It took him 2 seasons to figure out that his sprint draw concepts were not going to work here and that a play must be run blocked. The change in blocking was not his decision. All the low percentage vertical routes , predictable formations , lack of balance, lack of a short passing game , and terrible play calls contribute to the teams issues.

Why , when we can run the ball , are we running a hurry up O that either flames out or scores too quickly putting our woeful defense back on the field? We are getting a ton of at bats ...the other team is scoring on us very quickly. We should score as much as we do with as many plays as we are running per game. Finally , this offense does very little to help out defense with field position. We either score or flame out.

I think we control the ball and the clock , keep the D off the field and go with effeciancy and and field position ...we win at UF and maybe UGA.
