Biggest Phony In UT history (excluding Kiffin)

It had nothing to do with anything you said. But the responses you got made it obvious the thread was headed off topic and down the toilet fast, and we usually throw threads like that overboard pretty quickly. Nothing personal intended at all.

I'll put it back and put it in the pub where I think it belongs. Ray Blanton, Jake Butcher, Clay Travis, all in the first dozen posts or so.

I apologize Vx and Cmelt...I hadn't even gotten to Ron Zook and Jack Sells yet and they WERE on the staff. Lot's of phonies, mostly phonies when it comes to football coaches, right? Urban Meyer, if you're his daughter is a phoney, no?

Going to clean up the meta-discussion about the thread itself to make it easier for people to read. Evening, gentlemen.

And here come the idiots saying Brucey was a perfect little angel and everyone lies. He's definitely just as admirable as a guy playing through cancer.

Another classic case of, "He's no longer with us therefore we never wanted him, he sucks anyways, he's a dirty cheat and he just plain sucks" attitude.

My opinions of people do not and have never changed based on whether or not they are currently affiliated with UT.

I believe that Trooper Taylor was a huge phony, with his Jesus loving "all about family" talk, right before he bolted for Allbarn as soon as it became apparent that he wasn't going to get Cutcliff's vacated OC position.

When he left Tenn he went to Oklahoma St for a Co-Offensive coordinator position and a payraise.

At Auburn he was assistant head coach along with wide receiver coach.

Don't see how you get "phony" out of that. He was never going to be more than a Wr coach for us.

and if you ignore the fake titles given to him he was never more than a WR coach anywhere (he was AHC at UT too)

That IS rock solid evidence.

It's funny how no one needs evidence to convict a guy like Calipari, yet Pearl was doing shady stuff all over the place and people want him to get banned by the NCAA or something before they admit it. Oh, wait, that happened already.

I think for most people, it's more the piety coupled with his questionable recruiting tactics that makes him phony.

Not sure anyone here brought up Cal and you won't find anything in my posts that call him a cheater either. Either post some evidence of him paying off Ramar or leave it be.

Moral of the story? Don't lie about whom you serve BBQ.

Ok. I will NEVER[ see anything remotely negative from you then. UT loses 70-0, I expect you to be pumping rainbows out of your ass. I think the most negative thing on this board are people waiting to ambush posts. Come on dude.

I was just playing, chill out, nancy.

Still acting like a dick tho

No this is a completely negative thread dont even try to say it isnt. You're going to sit here and say a thread titled "Biggest Phony in UT History" and then ends with "Let The Hate Begin" is a positive thread?? haha thats a joke. and are you saying you make this site successful with your 334 posts and only 44 likes, obviously a lot of people dont like your opinion very much

I give a ****. Your mamma's opinion does matter to me though. Now I have 338 posts and you probably don't care for this one either.

Except for the fact that they do. You're making a very poor case over here, especially since you don't have anything to imply or infer Pearl did anything else.

Again, if Pearl were still here, you wouldn't be lamenting about how much of a scumbag he is.

You are factually correct. My point was that he presented himself to players (and to a lesser extent fans) as a man that thought of team as family. The chest bumping "players" coach bailed on his "fan." This is nothing sup rising in today's game. I just felt it was hypocritical i.e. phony. Sour grapes, spilled milk, whatever you wanna call it.

He may have changed his ways, but Pearl is a scumbag and we're better off without him.

Again, my opinion of Pearl doesn't hinge even a little bit on whether or not he's here.

Better off? In the short run? Yes, only because of his personal sanctions. The long run? Maybe, but I doubt it.

In the long run, we would be substantially worse off because it's too easy for opposing coaches to question the trustworthiness of a guy that repeatedly got caught lying. Why do you think we fired him?
