Heard Musburger say this the other night and I've heard the same saying from coaches throughout my time as a football fan.

I know we came out flat but have a good feeling we come out hungry next Saturday with a much better looking team. What's everyone's thoughts? Or are there still fans ready to jump off a cliff?

We almost have to come out looking better, don't we? I really don't see how we could play much worse other than losing a couple of those fumbles. I agree though, it will hopefully look like a different team gets fielded next week. Dobbs seems to play best in his biggest games but Debord needs to allow him to play his game from now on...

Dobbs is a gamer. He isn't great at passing and is pretty bad at reading his progressions and seeing the field.

However, he excels at improvised situations. Usually this involves his legs.

This season will hinge on 2 things offensively, based upon our current personnel and strengths.

How well can we run with our game planned schemes: teams are going to dare Dobbs to pass. 8 or 9 in the box. This will effectively wipe out Dobb's ability to run too.

How effective we can be in a quick passing situation. Look at the Patroits. The passing scheme rarely has a 5 Step drop. Usually quicker passes to open up the run game.

The issues are fixable. Debord needs to open the playbook and the offensive line needs to play with an edge. They let App State bring the fight all night Thursday. If we get aggressive both in mind and body all will fall into place.

It better be the O line. From guard to guard got whipped like they stole something and if it happens this week were beat. We struggle to throw the ball and if they don't cure the O line we won't be able to run either.

This is so true. Everyone we line up against for the rest of the year is going to follow this formula not matter what we do in the next game.

IMHO, we should have known that at the start of camp. I'm going to believe that Butch and Co made the decision NOT to show our hand until after Appy St. (It almost backfired) I'm assuming they have worked to death plays to negate "the stacked box". We certainly should have the personnel to hurt any team in the nation on the perimeter and the TE to get over the LBs and scare the DBs.

There are plenty of specific areas to improve - interor line play, ball security, overall execution, etc...but I think the area that bothered me he most was that we lost our cool...it didn't seem like we handled adversity very well...after the fumbled punt the D didn't show up for a couple of series...after the dropped pass it seemed like the O was just walking...it looked like the leadership didn't step up and get the guys refocused...
