I haven’t had any “comebacks”. Both teams dealt with the exact same conditions.

That’s called “fair and equal” where I come from.

I’m not into feeling sorry for myself, or my team.

They handled things better than we did. They are a much better team than we are.

Period.

No offense op, but we've had this same thread the past 10 years. Our defense isn't going to instantly change this year. Watch us struggle to stop etsu, and when Florida comes to town, Franks will do exactly what Grier did all day. The attitude may be different, but Florida will sadly run us out of our own stadium. I'm not saying Pruitt won't change things with time, but it ain't happening this year, we'll struggle to win 4 games. I hope I'm wrong.

Our o line will get better as Smith and others get used to playing more as a unit. I think a few games together will bring out a different line. And it’s obvious Smith needs the practice to get back to game shape.

The next 2 games will be good for our confidence and will allow CJP and staff to make lots of adjustments based on this game.

The defense as a whole will get much better with experience as they get more PT and adjust to the new system. The secondary on this team will never be really good, but I also think they have the potential to be good enough later in the season.

Lots of guys will get to play the next 2 weeks as they will be blowouts. This will help with building depth.

All in all, I was hoping we’d play better and we did at times, but consistency will come with reps and a better understanding of the schemes. I think the team that takes the field against Florida will be much better than the one who took the field yesterday.

6-6 it is. We will win 3 of either SC, UF, Missouri, UK or Vandy. My guess is UK, Vandy and Florida as I’m not sure they have the right offenses to exploit our weaknesses. SC will be tough due to scheduling and they have a good QB. Missouri will be tough due to Locke.

Offense line is weak and got pushed around by mediocre defense front no physicality.....pathetic too be that big and get whipped by less talented people. People need quit making excuses for this unit.

Can we stop acting like we weren't moving the ball? Yes the first couple of series were worrisome, but overall I felt we were calling what the defense gave us. It sucks to take negative plays, but at the end of the day it is all about keeping the opposing D honest. I would have loved to see JG complete that screen he threw high, excellent call that would have went for six! Give the offense time to gel. If eveyone watched the game closely, then they could tell Helton isnt afraid to let JG sling it. It appeared to me he was calling plays to establish his confidence. I am willing to bet this loss will benefit in the long run.

Regarding #1.

Seen several posters say we better hope WVU doesnt lose any games.

I dont see this mattering much. This team isnt going to be angling for the playoffs or even a top 25 ranking barring miraculous improvement.

Getting drilled by a mediocre Big 12 team has already changed things drastically I would say.

Not often it can be said a 40 to 14 game wasnt as close as the score indicated.

They were left on an island at times because of blitzes that were used to get pressure.

Some of the matchups were impossible. A safety on a wr is a mismatch. A safety expected to stay with a wr 40 yards down field is beyond a mismatch. No one expects to win doing that. What you expect is for your rush to get home and the safety not have to cover that long. Rush never got there.

This is true, the tackling issue is also a problem, we miss so many tackles behind the los. I expect it to improve but with no pressure on qb it gonna be a long year for our dbs.

Exactly. People want to complain about not blitzing every down, then also complain about not being able to cover dudes 50 yards down the field.

think we will improve every game this year. I could see a year like 2009 but swap florida and Georgia out.
