Biggest Disappintment

The biggest disappointment is the decline from 2015 to 2016. In 2015, every game Tennessee came out ready to play. They were well-prepared and executed very well from the start. Now there were still several questionable coaching decisions in key moments that season, but at least the team was prepared and executed. 2016 and so far this year, the team looked overwhelmed and underprepared every game.

There have been a mountain of disappointments, but I agree with this. Something happened to this program between 2015 and 2016. I know they struggled holding leads, but the '15 team played hard, played with energy, played to and sometimes above their talent level, and generally looked like the arrow was pointing up. Then, 2016 happened. We came out flat in the opener against App State, and with the exception of a few second halves that season, it's like we've been flat ever since.

I don't know wtf happened.

Is it possible that there's been too much of an emphasis on "continued competition at every position " Are they playing scared? Are they thinking too much? Obviously it's coaching. But what is it with the coaching that was on display today?

Obviously this is not our only issue, but I'm beginning to believe that our fan base was a little hasty on blaming Jancek. I bet Jancek is laughing his a** off at us. Perhaps I have tried to block the last 5 years or so of UT football from my memory and could be a little fuzzy, but that said, is my memory wrong or did our defense generally look leagues better under Jancek than it has under Shoop?

I thought that my disappointment after those inexcusable losses to Bandy and South Carolina couldn't be topped. Then this season (so far) happened.

Wow. I thought the team would come out and take out some frustration on a third tier opponent (no disrespect of UMass intended, but let's be honest here . . .)

Think about the kind of wound we could have inflicted on UF by beating them last week and then UK looks like they might beat them today. But we didn't.

Oh well. Go Vols. I'm just numb.

I think my biggest disappointment is we seem to be no better this year than we were his first year and we have a ton more talent. The lack of player development is a huge concern because that will never change. I believe this staff has reached its plateau and this may be what we should expect until things change

Sadly agree

Those players all had those talents when they came to tennessee...butch didnt develop them!!! They just got the playing time to get great at their positions...butch has nothing to do with developing any player in 5 years period. Straight facts!!!

Talent level is missing right now. Injury bug again this year... that combination is hurting the team. Coaching gaffs add to the mess.

5th consecutive year in a row for injury excuse. That's a record.

Only at Tennessee.
