COLOMBIA'S most powerful drug lord and one of the United States' most wanted criminals has been captured after more than ten years on the run.

Dairo Antonio Úsuga David, known as Otoniel, was nabbed by police in a huge military operation involving 500 soldiers backed by 22 helicopters.

The 50-year-old has been accused of sending multiple shipments of cocaine to the US as well as killing police officers, recruiting schoolchildren, sexually abusing children and other horrifying crimes.

Otoniel was his drug-plagued nation’s most-wanted trafficker and the leader of its largest criminal gang with a feared force of 1,800 heavily-armed militia.

I worked with some students from Colombia a few years ago when I was at Southern Miss. They were incredible human beings, said it was a great place to visit if you just stay out of the jungle.

Why doesn't this piss pond scum have his mask on? Who will collect the 5 Million bounty?
Why not just shoot this piss pond scum dude and say "oops, the gun accidentally went off".
Now we get to spend tax money to keep him alive somewhere in a jail cell for 30 years.
Nothing but bread & water for him & no TV time for his sentence sitting in a small jail cell.

But cultural differences aside, he's probably a nice guy, one you could have a beer and a few laughs with.
