I don't post much anymore so I know my opinion matters little. I was (24/7 365) kind of active through a staggering 3 coaching searches prior to this one though. These are my 3 observations from afar (Both AD and HC)

It was fast

It was without drama

It wasn't horrible

This is despite the fact we are now facing sanctions, a ton of player departures, and a losing record that makes Dooley look like a winner.

Just being competent is a huge jump in the right direction - for the whole program

I'm guardedly optimistic a lot of players still left in the transfer portal will stay, especially after we shore up our Asst. Coach hiring's.

We don't suck as much as we did...even though we don't know yet how bad we suck.
lol - I can easily tell you how bad we suck.

We are 3-7 paying players kind of suck.
We are worse than Dooley sitting on a stool and losing to KY level suck.

Just changing the page competently was automatically a major suck reduction. You vent it out however you need to though. I won't judge that part.

This coaching search went much smoother than the last one... and we probably did end up with a better coach, but that doesn't make it a good hire or mean that we came away with the best coach that we could have hired. It's bland and uninspiring. The University of Tennessee is really testing the patience of their fan base right now. It's a level of incompetence which lends itself to suspicions of sabotage. Can a group of well-educated people really be this bad at their jobs, without it being deliberate?

Hiring an AD and coach cleanly and quietly is not what I would define as sabotage, but hey some love the chaos.

I think this is the most competent the program has looked in a transition since before Fulmer's firing .

And, meanwhile, UGA today got a commitment from yet another five star QB (decommitted from USCe, the only program that’s a bigger dumpster fire than Rocky Top). Their 2022 class is now #3 - based on seven commitments. ALL are in-state players.

Gotta be more than competent - mere competence is losing ground, fast.
