Over the weekend I was thinking how far we all have come as hyper fans. P1's as they are called in the radio ratings and marketing..
The Gruden thread really was all about hope.
Hope for someone to bring us back to where we just don't wish to be able to "keep it close".."Not get embarrassed"
"If we get 5 turnovers and a blocked punt we might just might...pull it off " ...Flipping from Nega Vols on Sunday to Sunshine Pumpers on Weds because we all just wanted to believe.
Now our hope is based on talented young men and a solid coaching staff who will go out and give their all for Tennessee here in 2016. Let the chips fall where they may but I am just glad the hope for greatness is on the field and no longer an F5 in the Gruden thread. For our younger members of VolNation, as Butch told us..Your time is coming! And ladies and gentlemen it starts next Thursday..Go Big Orange!

We've come a long way. Sept-24 will be the litmus test. The 3 games after could be epic. Gruden might just want the job now that a few bricks are back.

Fans can say what they want about Butch but he is exactly what we needed

Butch has done the job, and a really excellent job at that. I don't know how you could expect to come back from the depths of mediocrity, and below, which is where we were, any faster than Butch and the staff has turned the trick. Now, let's see if he can coach enough to win the big games, and if he can recruit enough to keep us there. It's a tall order. Tennessee plays in a big boy conference. There's no where to hide. Put up or shut up time!

Wait... We're not getting Gruden? I thought Butch was just the smokescreen until Gruden's contract was up with MNF?

I suppose, the program was essentially in a deep hole.

While photos showed Coach Jones building a wall or mailbox, what he actually was doing was taking the real bricks and filling in that hole, patiently a brick-a-day.

Now, with the hole filled, he and the team are standing above ground, back on equal footing with AL and FL and LSU and we are back, ready to rise above, again.

it's all about the third saturday in oct. Until we start winning that one, and doing it regularly we are not there yet.

What do you mean by "thread." A thread denotes a singular entity.

There were multiple threads that shall live forever in the annals of the history of VN.

Indeed, there was even a 3rd shift on VN where fans worked overtime to find a coach that wanted the job

No need for Gruden. It is fun to consider, but it might not be that good. If Butch continues his progression, we will need to fend off suitors.
