Because the offense goes 3 and out more times than not. The defense gave the O plenty of chances to keep us in the game. By the time the offense decided to show up they were already gassed from being on the field all game. I thought the defense played a good game given the cirumstances. They're definitely improving. Offense not so muchGave up more points than our offense scored, so that's still an issue.
Just my opinion but I think they are picking up the defensive plan. They were in position to make plays, but in many cases didn't make the plays, didn't tackle. So if they ever get physical and stop the arm tackling, I think they can make progress. CJP is doing all he can with this D, but you know he's wanting to get some new players bad at several defensive positions. You also have to keep in mind that UGA held the ball for 37 minutes compared to just 22 minutes by UT. That defense was getting worn down. They didn't really start looking awful, to me, till the second half. They weren't great, but they're showing improvement. Still too many missed opportunities and big mistakes, but they're showing improvement at least.
Our defense wore down as the fourth Q went on. All of the 3 and outs from the first half begin to catch-up with the downlinmen.*Gave up 441 yards of offense
*Gave up 38 points
*Got much worse on 3rd down- allowed Ga to convert 8-14 3rd downs and 1-1 4th downs
*Allowed 251 yards rushing and 5 yds per carry
*Didnt, again, force any turnovers.
*GA dropped at least 2 balls that would’ve been huge gains if not scores.....if they make those plays, which they normally do, it would’ve been much worse.
Are we really excited about this defensive “performance”? Kinda ridiculous if you are.
