You for got the most important stat. Woodson was the best shutdown corner. That doesn't go in the statbook, but it is hard to ignore that.
He played in the Big 10, where they mostly run the ball and have less talent than the SEC.

Lets see what he would have done playing against Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama in 1997...

Woodson didn't get it for career accomplishments. He got it because he was the best player in 1997.

Like I said, if it isn't based on career accomplishments, explain 1998 Heisman winner?

And I could make a very compelling argument that Randy Moss was better than Woodson by a country mile...

Woodson deserved to be 3rd in voting, at best.

Then should they rename the award best qb award?

No. But look at the impact Woodson and Peyton had on the outcome of their games in 97. Woodson had one game where he returned a punt for TD that got him recognized. Without Peyton, UT would not have been anywhere near the level that they were at in 97.

Williams also ran for 2000+ yards.

Not seeing eye-to-eye with you on that one.

Johnny was robbed of the award by a player on a losing team, so saying that helps his argument is crap.

Something that happened that long before doesn't really help your argument.

Heading into the '97 season, the Heisman was Peyton's to lose. He lost it against Florida.

There were no other real front runners. Woodson took the lead with the return to put the OSU game away. The voters could not award Manning, since he almost single handedly threw away his teams title hopes, when everyone in the nation had UT as a title front runner heading in to the season.

National Championship. And that holds water because? You believe they win as many games in 97 with Tee Martin as a sophomore at QB?
What evidence is there against them winning as many games with Tee as a sophomore? Absolutely none.
