Eddie Murphy reprises one of his best loved action comedy characters in "Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F" - bringing his iconic detective back to screens for the first time since 1994.
The first trailer for the upcoming sequel was released by Netflix, Thursday, teasing Foley pitched back into car chases, shoot outs and quick-fire dialogue.
Alongside Murphy, Judge Reinhold, John Ashton and Paul Reiser also reprise their roles from the original movies. They are joined by incoming stars Taylour Paige, Kevin Bacon and Joseph Gordon-Levitt - as Foley and his daughter (played by Paige) team up with a new partner (Gordon-Levitt) and old friends Billy Rosewood (Reinhold) and John Taggart (Ashton) to uncover a conspiracy.
Murphy launched the first of three "Beverly Hills Cop" big screen movies in 1984, at the height of his fame. "Beverly Hills Cop II" followed in 1987, and "III" in 1994.
The star last played the role for 2013 TV pilot "Beverly Hills Cop" - which followed his screen son, Aaron Foley. It was not aired and the hoped for spin-off series never materialized.
The new movie follows another recent reboot of a vintage Murphy hit: 2021's "Coming 2 America," in which he reprised his role of African monarch Akeem, for Amazon Prime.
"Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F" is due out globally on Netflix in summer 2024.
