some thoughts on the action so far:
1. Good day for Tennessee. West Virginia avoids disaster and Memphis plays like a #1 seed. NC Asheville failed to deliver, but that isn't a mjor blow. Every victory by a former opponent helps this time of year.
2. Joe Alexander is growing into being Tom Gugliotta Lite.
3. Norm Roberts is the new Buzz Peterson. Nobody is better at losing close games.
4. Vanderbilt doesn't get to play NCAA Tournament games in Memorial Gym. That's bad news for them.
5. Huge win for Georgetown. I have a gut feeling they are going to be the #2 seed in whichever reason has Tennessee as the 1.
6. Good win for USC. It will serve them well when the seeding process is done.
7. Conversely, Stanford hurt themselves by failing to respond to the debacle at UCLA. They probaly blew their chances at being on the second line of the S curve.
8. Congratulations to Winthrop. As consistently excellent a small time league program as there is today.
9. New York City deserves much better than St. John's and the Knicks are providing.
10. Kentucky's NCAA chances look better and better. A win tomorrow will get them in the field.

Doesn't help that Vandy lost to Bama. They are the Tennessee of last year. They cannot win on the road.

On the other hand, if Cal can hold on they help us tremendously.

Tennessee beat Alabama. When you've played both teams, the impact is minimal.

So you think UT is pretty much a lock for a 1 seed if they beat South Carolina? What if they lose their first game in the conference tournament?

I think a win tomorrow puts UT in great shape. This team isn't going to lose in the first round of the SEC Tournament.

I'm hoping UT can avoid LSU... They seem like a new team since Brady has been terminated.

What do you think about the job Butch Pierre has done? In the 8 games before him, they were 1-7... In his first 8, they have been 5-3... Do you think they will promote him?

Pierre Niles is a Memphis player. I think you mean Butch Pierre :)

Will a 30-4 team get us the number one overall seed in your opinion or will it take 31-3?

Does the LSU coach have the same name as the Memphis player, Pierre Niles?
