Stop acting like the SEC teams cannot play football in the cold.

I would think cold is much easier than the hot humidity of August and September in the south.

The only weather factor is SNOW or ICE and no team generally has experience is slip sliding around - it is like teams playing in a downpour of rain. No one practices that,
Casey Clausen wasn’t particularly good in cold weather …. Just sayin’

Truth.
To prepare for the cold, Vols are now practicing from 6am-9am instead of their usual 8am-11am.
They also are using big wind producing fans on the sidelines instead of heaters.
He has also told them to dress down to as little as possible at practice with no long sleeves, gloves, or heavy socks.

This is only rumor, but apparently Bru (the teams practical joker) came out of the locker room wearing no shirt or pants.
Just a jockstrap, shoulder pads, and cleats.
He said …”Coach, I’m ready for wherever they send us”.
LOL.

Has OSU played a offense hurry up spread like ours. I ask this because I have not seen Oregon play. It just seems to me if we spread them out sooner or later D Sampson is going to break a few long ones. My biggest worry is we do not have that standout elite receiver that owns every ball that's put in the air.

Disagree. They are as talented as anyone, plus the cold weather will NOT help us. Just like we struggle with Fla no matter the record, the same goes for Ohio St vs Michigan. This is not a favorable matchup for us, not at Ohio St. If it was in Knoxville, absolutely. I think you forget our struggles on the road. We couldn't even beat sorry ass Arkansas at their little stadium. Let's hope GA and Penn St gets blown out.
I think we go in there and shock the world and the committee. The Vols play this series like they have a chip on their shoulder. We run and pass at will. Our defense is mean and hungry and absolutely thrashes them. Get ready. I hope they think the Vols are a rollover. That would be cute.

If we played them at home I could see us winning buy double digits. Nico seems to be on to something finally, and Ohio state is overrated. They just lost at home to a really bad michigan team. Their QB may also be hurt.
Nico has made some God awful throws even against Vanderbilt and UTEP. I’m really hesitant to say he is “on something” just because he played fairly well (by no means great) against Vanderbilt and UTEP. That’s a far cry from Ohio State, no matter what you think of them.

Some of you are acting like OSU is Iowa.
Not going that far, but their offense has had 3 games this year where they flatlined against solid defenses (Nebraska, Penn St, and Michigan). Our D will probably be the strongest they have seen all year. They have athletes for sure, but nothing we haven't already seen in Bama and UGA. We usually do a good job of limiting the explosive plays and forcing offenses to grind out drives. OSU will have to earn it. Their QB has been hot and cold, and thus their WR deep threats have been producing less then they could. Their run game is solid.

The problem is their defense is actually pretty dang good. It will be a challenging matchup for us on that side of the ball. I could see this be a 21-14 type game where it comes down to who scores above 20 first wins.

Nico has had solid games since second half of the Bama game. I think he has turned the corner from that mid season slump we saw. OL has improved around him too. He had time to unfold a camping chair, sit down, light a cigar, then make a throw in the backfield against Vandy.

Their offense is very limited. They will not be able to run the ball and we will. Game would be a blow out.
The offensive line is a huge problem after losing two of the three best starters. OSU doesn't have much depth there. Run blocking seems to be a bigger issue than pass blocking with the restructured line.

I would bet on Ohio State to win straight up, but the 9-pt spread looks generous.

A lot of BVS on here. I know that feeling well but we have to believe that our players were highly rated to and not inferior to OS's and our coaches can scheme with their coaches equally well. I do think our hurry up O will give them trouble as they will not be able to substitute on D like they like. Agree it will be a tough scenario but Vols can win this if Nico shows up that day.

Ohio State is tough on defense. Those saying we'll pound the rock on them easily need to look at her reality of their stats. I know I'll hear "they didn't play anyone like us" but our O Line play is spotty. Look for them to be ready for us to run.

Lou Holtz said, The Ohio State is soft as Charmin tissue and they've never beat Tennessee.

He has played decently against a bunch of horrible teams and played a good quarter against Georgia. Idk if the OL has improved as much as Vandy just couldn’t rush the passer.

It would have been a historic game in Neyland. Instead we will just have to be satisfied knowing that we are peaking at the right time. Everyone was worried about Vandy on the road and despite a horrible start, we still rolled. You have to call Nico a veteran now. If the weather is not rain, sleet or snow, we should pass well on them. It is also reassuring that we are the leading RUSHING team in the SEC. Also, if I am not mistaken, their record against us is pretty poor. Unless it's 18 on 11, we should win.

From what I've heard, Josh Heupel runs practices early in the morning and it's been below freezing most mornings the past couple of weeks here. Plus Heupel is from South Dakota, where it gets way colder than Ohio. Also, it's 2024. They'll have heaters on the sidelines and cold weather gear. Cold weather is not an excuse anymore
That’s what I’m saying. Those buckeye fans will make excuses if they lose. It was always something in the weather dept.

I really think we stack up very well with Ohio State, I'd rather play them at home but they have never beat us. I was there at 1996 Citrus Bowl and sat through the pouring rain as Sophomore P Manning & the Vols shutdown Heisman Eddie George and Ohio State. For some reason I'd rather play them than go on up north to P State.
Ohio State has never beat 8, P4 teams and 5 of them are SEC teams it just means more.
I was there too! Defense stifled Eddie all day
