A complete and utter understatement.

Its amazing that fans dont realize that it is in the bookmakers best interest to be as close to correct as possible. Way more often than not the bookmakers are correct. Are they wrong? sure, but not very many times.

not really.

the goal of the bookmaker is to get equal action on each side. it has as much to do with public perception as expected outcome.

a bookmaker is neither right or wrong, the player is the one who chooses a side

the list with teams odds is not a ranking system its the odds of these teams running the table. apples and oranges.

Being more likely to win a national title doesn't mean that a team is better than another team. You might expect TN to win in a head-to-head with Boise St, but still give Boise a better chance to win a national title because of the difficulty of UT's schedule.

Also, giving a team coming off of a 5-7 season 100-1 odds of winning a national title is a vote of confidence.

I was just curious about some of the betting lines

Tennessee's lines are

150/1 for National Championship
35/1 to win SEC
12/1 to win the SEC East
over/under wins 7

I got TN over 7.5 with my guy and played us to win the East. Im not sure if we win the East but I do feel we win 8+ this year barring any dramatic injuries. If Bray, JH or CP go down then that changes things. We are due for some good luck.

I agree with all except the East. Think we have a better shot than that.

Just for fun, what are Vandy's lines? :)

SIAP. So the site linked here has us as 100-to-1 to win the BCS next year. If you geninely believe that the all teams listed with better odds than Tennessee are better than Tennessee they have us fighting for a bowl next year again. They have six of our opponents listed higher--Fla, Georgia, Alabama, Miss. State, South Carolina, and Missouri.

College Football Future Odds at VegasInsider.com, The Leader in Sportsbook and Gaming Information - College Football BCS Future Odds, College Football BCS Futures

Wait a minute. Those odds are for this season, not next year. And Missouri and Miss St are 300 and 200-1, how are those odds better than ours at 100-1? And I;m also wondering how that reflects us "fighting for a bowl?" :good!:

Hope TN does well but historically speaking TN's average on covering the spread has not been great.
