Better performance than you think

I guess we can agree to disagree. Question? How do you take a team that had Florida beat until the final seconds last year and then virtually the same team the next year look completely unprepared and fundamentally lost? Between last year and this year certainly we did not lose talent. The answer is the ball coach

Not sure this applies to some of the players

you do realize last year's team went 4-8. and the only thing the same on the two teams is the vast majority of the players.

and it's not like we came in to this season expecting 8+ wins. most everyone knew the ceiling for this team was 7, and that's if things went well early in the schedule. they haven't.

im not going to defend the coaching. i don't think it was very good. but you're gonna have a hard time convincing me that this team is talented. we have a bunch of names everyone recognizes, that we THINK should be good, but they just aren't. you don't get man handled like we did on the LOS and talk about talent.

you've got guys that came in with high expectations like Drew Richmonda, Nigel Warrior, Kongbo, Phillips etc....that just are not very good and have never lived up to their potential or billing.

This game was fairly predictable. For one, I’ve heard the “we’re showing them a vanilla offense” excuses so many times over the decade but have yet to see it manifest itself in a win against a good team. This team has already shown what they are in the first three games and the fact that the coaches are installing a new offense and defense should tell people that until the players get a chance to learn, there are gonna be contests like this.

I want them to win big every game but there has to be an opportunity given to get players who fit the schemes and for those already on the rooster to develop in the new system or get out of the way.

I think we are a couple years away and at least one more good recruiting class away from being consistently competitive. Not an excuse....just an observation. After last year, how can one believe we could be good enough to beat an SEC team after just a few months practice?

I was disgusted about this game as much as anybody, but there was a much better performance than you think. Without the turnovers, this game was even.

Florida Passing 186 yds.
Florida Rushing 201 yds.
Total 387 yds.

UT Passing 208 yds.
UT Rushing 156 yds.
Total 364 yds.

Net difference -23 yds.

Strictly from a overall comparison, we performed except for the self inflicted wounds. I love our school and this team. I know rough times are ahead, but I am not willing to quit on them. Somebody gave time to gain 208 yds. passing and somebody opened holes to gain 156 yds rushing and both would have been much higher if we had the clock time back that we gave away to turnovers.

You don’t need much offense when you get 6 turnovers.

New coaching staff, new offensive system, new defensive system. The only thing that isn't new on this team are the players let over from Butch. I had great hopes for this team this year, but it it painfully obvious it will take time for Pruitt's guys to make up the team. A couple of questions come to mind; (1)Does Guarantano have the freedom to change the play at the line of scrimmage? From my observation, it doesn't seem like it, and (2)How many on here are willing to give Pruitt the time he will need to recruit the type players he needs for his system? I look at Kentucky and it has taken Stoops into his 6th year to have a team that is competitive, winning games they traditionally lost. The administration at Kentucky stuck with him and look at the result. Like Pruitt, his previous stint was a DC, and I don't believe Stoops is any better coach than Pruitt. He just has a team of his players.

We gave this game away as easily as we turned the ball over.

We gave this game away as easily as the OL let the defense into our backfield.

Yes UF is a very bad team. They will not win many SEC games. Our only hope of a win is Vandy and thats a toss up.

Look beyond numbers.

After Tennessee made a mistake, did Florida have to settle for field goals or did they cash it in for 6. That’s the most red zone success I’ve seen from Florida than I can remember.

Which QB had time to throw?

Could Tennessee run the ball? Not just total yardage, but impose their will. The safety. The third and shorts.

Game within the game wasn’t close.

What I saw from UF was a bunch of punks.

No need to look too far.

-5 turnover margin

Neither team look good.
UT just figured out how to be catastrophic on more plays.

They didn’t have to go far to score at lest 2 or their TD’s off JG turnovers.
