Im sitting here watching The 91' ND game, and I started thinking which comback was better, Miracle in South Bend or the Ralley in Death Valley in 05'. Personally I would say the Ralley in Death Valley because our QB was Rick Clausen and thats sad. LSU was at home and had the inspiration of Katrina on their side and we shocked the world from being down 21-0 at half. After the Ainge debacle, who would have thought a win was possible? So what do yall think?

I was 2 and don't remember the Miracle in South Bend, but I would still rank it way above the LSU game.

Good topic. I think it has to be the Notre Dame win.

watching Jason Allen plant the UT flag into the tiger eye at midfield was better than any Notre Dame game i have seen....ever.

Was there while in college at UT. Johnny on the sidelines. Great comeback in a meaningful season. 2005 was a bust.

I never saw the Notre Dame game, but the 2005 game was ruined by the rest of the season.

The LSU game gave me false hope lol. But ND was a national title contender late in the season when winning in SB was dang near impossible. Its always fun to beat Holtz as well! Both games will always be remembered by all vol fans!

The comeback at South Bend was a football game of epic proportions. I don't think that drama will be revisited, at least not in my lifetime.

I was at LSU in 05 and I'll spare you the details but anyone who's been to Baton Rogue as an opposing team's fan will know exactly what I'm talking about when I say they were less than hospitable. With that said though I would love to thank the LSU fans for making it hands down the greatest walk back to the car in football history. I did not stop yelling from the second Riggs busted into the end zone til we were well out of town. I am incredibly lucky that I didn't get my ass kicked about a dozen different times.

Either way it will take a comeback of monumental proportions for any game to overtake the O5 LSU game as the greatest comeback in UT football history in this fans eyes.

I'll never forget the feeling of utter hopelessness changing to sheer joy when that kicked was blocked right before halftime. The ND game still gives me chills.

The miracle in south bend easily....My personal 2nd favorite was the win over Alabama in 1984 when We fought back from a 27-13 defict to take the lead 28-27 in the last 2 minutes on Tony Robinsons 2 point conversion....That was the final score....Sure was a thriller.

Exactly. After the first quarter and a half I had given up hope due to the way the Vols were being dominated. Then, starting the second half the comeback was like a jet plane on the runway reving the engines getting ready for takeoff ending in the crescendo of the butt blocked potential game winning field goal.

I wasn't alive for the ND game, but I just watched a YouTube Video about it. I loved the blocked kick return for a TD.

The ND game was awesome but for what it meant at the time I'll have to say, in my opinion, the greatest comeback happened in 1998 against Arkansas..That game had it all...Just in the last minute and a half of that game your emotions were on a roller coaster...You go from utter disappointment to sheer ecstasy..The Arkansas game and the ND game are the only two times that I got so emotional that I shed any tears and that includes the National Championship game win....Remember, the Vols were down 21-3 against the Hogs...I'd say that constitutes a comeback win...
The 28-27 win over Alabama was big as well and I was at that game....

93 Sugar Bowl comeback over UVA was pretty solid.

I think it was the 91 season, but I think that might be my pick as well. I don't think I've ever seen an offense look as awful in one half and then look unstoppable in the 4th quarter. Andy Kelly and Greg Amsler had the games of their lives.

the miracle was the most exciting Tennessee event I have ever been at. I was at 86 Sugar Bowl, 98 and 01 Florida games, 82, 83, 84, 85 and 95 Alabama games, first night game in Neyland and many other huge games. Nothing could compare with that 91 game in South Bend in my opinion

90 season, Jan 1 '91 was the bowl game. I was a freshman that year and attended my first (and only) Sugarbowl that year.

Good times

The Miracle at South Bend was a heck of a lot of fun to be at, too.

The greatest i have ever seen was the when the undefeated top ranked volunteers played host to the undefeated arkansas razorbacks in 1998. After trailing 21-3 To arkansas the vols ralliedto win and i will never forget john wards call. "And the numner 1 Undefeated tennessee vols will remain just that way. It wasnt easy but it happened"
