Only uninformed Tennessee fans thought that then, or now.
Which roster had more all-SEC players?
Which roster had the higher recruited players?
Which roster had more NFL starters?
Which roster had more NFL players?
Answer? LSU. LSU. LSU. LSU.

Ah, yes, they were freakishly talented. That's why Florida beat them 44-15 at Tiger Stadium. And why they didn't beat any ranked teams in the regular season.
I found a website (fanbase.com) Not really sure how reliable it is but these were the receivers listed on the 90 squad...
Vincent Moore, Charlie Longmire, Jason Julian (also listed as a safety), Alvin Harper, Harlan Davis, Tommy Campbell (TE), Mark Adams (TE), J.J. McCleskey, Anthony Morgan, Cory Fleming, Mark Rapien (TE), Carl Pickens, Craig Faulkner....
Dale Carter was also on that team...Didn't he two-platoon a little at WR ??...
Pickens Played some DB, I'm not sure if Carter went in at WR
Lets not forget the fact that we annihilated them earlier in the season. It's an attempt to prop up his lover. Anyone that's not brain dead could of told you we had the better team that year.
Pickens played safety to put a playmaker back there and had a few pick, iirc. Carter didn't play offense, but was a dangerous kick returner.
Morgan, Harper, Pickens and a UT high jumper that could almost touch the top of the backboard had an intramural basketball team called the Lakers. They could have given the Vols hoops team a good game.
Carter did not play WR but he was a fearless KR. I was at the UT/UF game at Neyland in '90 (?) and we were up 7-3 at halftime. UF kicked off and Carter took it to the house by bouncing off a pile of humanity and coming out of nowhere. That started an avalanche and we pounded them 45-3.
On another note, I can remember only Peerless Price's KR TD against bama since then. My memory is not too good but stillsad that our returners have been so poor
since then.
If I remember correctly, Banks was kicked off the team before the 2004 season. Also, CJ Fayton and Chris Hannon made an impact that year.
I haven't seen Willie Gaunt name on these lists. I know he was a great track start. But he could sure stretch the field and put some fear in the corner backs head. He also made a number of great catches when I saw him play. I ran on the track when he was practicing sprints and he was the smooths runner I have ever seen.
Well we will have to agree to disagree. We were outcoached by a lesser talented team. Now based over 4 years of each teams players they may or may not have been more talented, I truely dont have the time to go evaluate what every single player did, nor will I. But that year we had the better talent. LSU caught us at the right time and it was a terrible job of coaching by Fulmer. And I doubt Saban has ever been accused of bad coaching with a talented team. Just dont see it happening, and I cant stand him.

Which recruiting service are you using, and can you list the starters/players signed from 2001 rosters for both teams.
Your exactly right. I made that exact point in another thread. Fulmer was a fantasic recruiter, but wasnt the best Coach. All the talent he had and only 1 NC was ridiculous. We definately should have had atleast 3 and possibly more. No way we shouldnt have had atleast 1 under Peyton.
