Last weekend, there were a lot of really badcalls in week 5. I thought the 2 pi's (brazz and hood) against us were bad. Check out the Wake GT game it was epically bad and cost them the game literally. 1:51 left Wake is driving and needs a first down to ice the game (GT has no timeouts). 3rd down. There is an eggregious offisdes so they properly snap and chuck the ball as they should its a free play. Incomplete pass loss of downs clock stop they are forced to punt. Instead of having the first down and kneeling it out. Instead, GT is able to kick a field goal and force OT. Officiating is getting worse and worse in college and I think its not because of skill I think there are paper bags involved at this point.

Preseason has a lot to do with how players are perceived for awards & rankings. Hell, even most of us didn’t think he’d be close to this good.

How many times have you seen a true freshman receiver dominate and then just not be good?

You really sound like an idiot if you think Jeremiah Smith’s 2024 season isn’t relevant when discussing how good he is. You’re particularly dumb for arguing that a player who was bad last year improved, so Jeremiah Smith dominating as a true freshman means nothing when evaluating him as a sophomore who is averaging 99 yards and a touchdown per game.

Mike Williams WR from USC in the early 2000s. Dominated as a true freshman and sophomore. Was never heard of again. Dominating as a freshman or sophomore doesn't necessarily indicate you are destined to always be good.

Mike Williams only played 2 years of college ball. He would have dominated 3 years or 4 years if he had played that long. NFL busts are a completely different discussion. What are you going on about? Utter nonsense is all you spew.

Well I look at the NFL as the proving ground for whose actually good and who isn't because unlike college where there are huge gaps in talent between teams that allow some players to hide behind their superior supporting casts, in the NFL talent is more evenly spread out thus not allowing a subpar player to hide behind great teammates.

USC in the early 2000s had significantly more talent than everyone else in the Pac 10. This allowed someone like Mike Williams to feast on weak competition giving us the false illusion he was elite. Then when he got to the NFL and couldn't feast on weak opponents while playing with a superior supporting cast he got exposed as a slow TE masquerading as a WR.

Heard an interesting comment from Hubbs about Brazzell today. Brazzell was a late bloomer size wise...so he played Slot WR through HS because he wasnt tall and strong enough to win 1on1s and jump balls outside at X or Y WR. Really polished his footwork and and route running as a Slot because thats how they get open. Then he grew like 5inches between the last part of HS and his freshman year and is now 6ft5in playing outside. He still has the excellent footwork, route running, and body control of a Slot WR and can play there...but now he has the size and height to play outside too. NFL GMs are gonna love that because he can play all 3 spots IMO.

I honestly didn't realize he was as tall as he was till this season. He has incredible burst an acceleration for his height,

Terribly flawed argument, but let’s pretend it has legs. You can’t use that argument to talk up a Tennessee player, because you consistently act like Tennessee has talent coming out of their ears and can’t be matched

This is why I always say let the future decide who is right and whose wrong. If my assessment of the player's talent on this team is wrong then the NFL will expose me as wrong. If I'm right then the NFL will prove me right.

For example, many will remember I hyped up the 2016 team as being loaded with future NFL players while I was lukewarm on the 2022 team. People thought that was crazy cause the 2022 had more on field success. Fast forward to the NFL and you'll see that more players from our 2016 team have had success in the NFL than players from our 2022 team. Kamara has been the most successful pro from either team. Jauan Jennings has been more successful than Hyatt. Even Dobbs despite not being a starter has had more success than Hooker.

The NFL is the barometer that exposes who actually has talent and who doesn't.

No not entirely. There are guys who weren’t that great in college who go on to be good in the NFL, there are guys who are phenomenal college players who bust in the NFL.

That's because of circumstances. In college guys like Kamara and Dobbs had to deal with bad coaches and a bad o-line that hid how good they really were versus guys like Hyatt and Hooker that benefitted from a genius coach and better system that made them look better than they really were.

Because the NFL has a more even spread of talent the great talents like Kamara are able to shine more easily while overrated players like Hyatt get exposed.

Personally, I think the ASU Wr Tyson is WR1. Kinda reminds me a bit of Ja’Marr Chase in his route running and playmaking ability.

I think Smith is overrated. He can be contained. He had 3 yards in a playoff game against Texas last year. Not saying Matthews is him whatsoever but Mike is a great athlete.

Just has to put it all together. His best 🏈 is in front of him.
