Best WR in SEC thus far has

Can't argue with that. He flips players and makes them stars better than anyone.
Also has his Dark Master Saban’s god complex. Call it earned and it is, but Saban never had a chance with Jalen Hurd because he decided he was a DB and pursued him til NSD knowing he’d realize it.

Call me wise for being old and viewing all this from the drinking glass, but if Saban or Kirby came calling and wanted me, but were trying to convince me another position is my true calling card, I'd have to take a very hard study of that.

If you want to achieve Legend Status HC, you have to have the Dark Master God Complex. But, the way he managed that complex was the key when he dealt with and mentored his players. Saban saw things on a totally different level than anybody. Kirby's success verses the other Saban disciples is because I think Kirby actually got that package and how it works, and has used it more like Saban better than all the others. Kirby may be a little short in the mentoring & discipline arena IMO, but he's come closer than all the others who left Saban to move up.

I don’t believe their otherworldly talents in that arena were beta tested due to their ability to just go out and recruit the top talent AT THOSE POSITIONS. It becomes more about what the player feels than a coach’s instincts with these life decisions. Sounds like you’re more prone to awe and respect. Also easier in theory than in application

Probably, because my career ended in 10th grade when I got dizzy doing suicides in practice and never made the team again. Had a longer baseball venture and was far better at that. In either sport, I never had the pleasure of being recruited, or having these kind of conversations with recruiters and coaches. So no practical experience. Just awe and respect. Ran track some and was a pretty fast sprinter for a white boy. Was few years behind Gault in track and saw first hand what it took to be at that level besides raw talent. I was, however, a pretty good baseball/pitching coach though, so I've got that. I do have a lot of respect for players and coaches that can even get to that level though, even if we all think some suck. It ain't easy, and given the numbers that try, it is statistically rare. Coaching or playing is a hard job. And the coaches give up more of their family life than the players. I recall the amount of time it took for me to just coach HS freshman pitchers and rec ball. Good thing I was single. The families of the coaches get the greater respect.

Big. Strong. Fast. Physical. He's got all the tools. He just needs to put it together. Once he does he'll be our best WR.

Also you might need to watch Ohio State this year. Jeremiah Smith isn't exactly looking like the best WR of all-time as many were predicting in the preseason.
Smith is averaging 99 yards per game and a TD per game as a sophomore after going for 1300 yards and 15 touchdowns en route to a National championship as a true freshman.

Oh and he is younger than Matthews and 3-4 inches taller too. Another horrible take by you.

Younger by a month. Only 2 inches taller max. And has played far weaker competition to get those stats. And he's getting paid about 3-4x what we're paying Mike Matthews.

In terms of price performance give me Mike Matthews all day everyday.

Yep. Played far weaker competition than Syracuse, Mississippi State, UAB, and ETSU en route to that national championship.

I can’t tell if you are the dumbest person on the internet or a brilliant satirist.

Why does what happened last year matter? Its the 2025 season. All anybody cares about is whats happening now. Sports is a what have you done lately for me business. And lately I'm liking what Mike Matthews has done versus SEC competition.

What happened last year matters quite a bit when talking about how good a receiver is this early into the season when said receiver had an elite year last year and is putting up 100 yards and a TD per game this year. What has happened this year is Jeremiah Smith has more yards, more touchdowns, and fewer drops than Mike Matthews in fewer games. Matthews has looked alright if you overlook his enormous issues with drops. Smith has continued to look like an All American type of guy.

Smith was way better as a true freshman and is still significantly better in year 2. It’s not a good comparison if you are wanting to pump up Matthews because they don’t have similar body types, and Smith has produced way more than Matthews despite actually being younger, so age and inexperience are not an excuse. Believe it or not, you can compliment a Tennessee team or player without always insisting they are the very best in the nation. If a guy can chew gum and walk at the same time while wearing a Tennessee jersey, you make him out to be a future Hall of Famer. As I said earlier, if you are satirizing the stereotypical college football fan, you are really brilliant at it. If you are even a little serious in 99% of your posts, I think you need to see a doctor.
