Not sure I'd go that far, but he's playing better than I expected. Kinda felt he'd be better as a safety to be perfectly honest.
I get it. Mathews might have been insistent on playing WR during his recruitment. With the NIL and the portal, it changes everything regarding details like a desire to play a specific position. He was impressive enough to be considered a 5 star at WR. He's a big play guy. Should have had the deep ball over the opposite shoulder, but it's anything but easy. He will improve in the tougher catchesKirby logic.
Better at the beginning of his career BEFORE he became keystone. Non-football smart QBs didn’t help. If I had to criticize anything about our coaching, it would be the lean towards loyalty with veterans and away from more talented options. It’s why I was excited at the potential of playing our former backups or way underutilized weapons. Playing the kid from Southlake at TE might be a good sign.Indeed. No offense to the kid, but I was never that impressed by his skill set. We can and did do better.
But this is not the WHOLE truth…..,, add those stolen yards on the bogus OPI and THEN you are close.View attachment 777587

I agree, but Staley did not have a very good job last Saturday. Muffed a punt, missed blocks, and dropped a lot passes. Maybe the week off will help him get back on track.Staley is better. Much better. Squirrel don’t get that critical first down on the 4th Qtr TD drive. Kudos to the coaching staff for seeing this.
When you look at these #s you realize why in the middle of the game that MSU ran on us so we'll. Hype was scheming to stop those 2 receivers who have lit it up . Except for the Turrentine busted zone and the other dropped bomb (which are a lot) we covered them pretty well. Later we put more in the box and stopped the run better.View attachment 777587

Matthews is #2 if he doesn't drop his 2 bombs right in the bread basket this year.View attachment 777587

You're right. He dropped a bunch last year. But I'm always optimistic so I am really, really pleased to see that he is playing up to and above what folks around expected last year. He's been magic out there. I hope it continues at this rate all year.It was warranted. Until this season Brazzell hasn’t been good.
